:crying:can everyone please stop threads about Pope Benedict being the last Pope before the antichrist. I don’t want to sound like a baby but you are scaring me. Most of you talking about this are alot older than me and honestly you will probably die in three or four decades…I have to be around here for alot longer. Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour…can we just leave it at that?:crying:

  1. I haven’t seen a thread that says Benedict XVI is the last Pope before the anti-Christ. By the way , what do you know about the anti-Christ?
  2. Hey I read the whole book and it says that Jesus Christ wins in the end.
  3. I betcha that the Vatican is not worried about an anti-christ.

Well lets see, Im 50 so I guess I take a little offense to this thread. NO ONE knows what will happen in the next 5 minutes, or 5 years for that matter. I could get hit by a bus! You could get hit by a car, who knows. But if you’re right with God you shouldn’t fear ANYTHING! So what if Benedict is the last Pope? It doesn’t matter. But what does matter is that you need to get right with Our Lord, then believe me, you won’t be afraid. Oh ye of little faith!

Well we shouldn’t worry in the sense of having our faith in God shaken, but it is something that we should be concerned about IMHO and it appears that at least one Cardinal and perhaps even the present Pope shares this concern:

catholicculture.org/docs/doc_view.cfm?recnum=3430

*A cardinal, the Times of London has suggested is a possible successor to John Paul II as Pope, has warned that the Antichrist may already be among us – but not seem evil to many. Rather, this “fascinating personality” (fascinating in the sense of mesmerizing) may be seen by many as a great humanitarian because of his support for things like vegetarianism, pacifism and the protection of the environment. *

Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, the 72-year-old archbishop of Bologna (central Italy), made his comments in a lecture he gave in March on Vladimir Soloviev (1853-1900), a brilliant Russian Orthodox theologian and mystic who has also been cited approvingly by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger [Pope Benedict XVI]

*Soloviev said the Antichrist would appear after the 20th century. He said the 20th century would be marked by horrific wars and the demise of sovereign nations. Then the Antichrist would appear. He would call for a world religion via ecumenism, replacing traditional Christianity with an amorphous “New Age” type of spirituality… *

*Soloviev’s predictions are “astonishing” in their accuracy, Biffi said, suggesting that Antichrist has already started his work. *Vatican watchers think Biffi’s remarks significant because they offer a glimpse into the mind of a man who could be John Paul II’s successor. Here is Biffi’s address, “Vladimir Soloviev: A Prophet Unheeded,” delivered in Italian on March 4, in our own translation.

EXCERPT from Cardinal Biffi’s address:

"Are we sure Soloviev did not foresee what has actually come to pass? Are we sure it is not precisely this that is the most perilous threat today facing the “holy nation” redeemed by the blood of Christ – the Church?

“It is a disturbing question and one we must not avoid.”

Thank you, Meggie for saying what I wanted to say. It seems that the original posters wanted to ask because they wanted to find out where this really came from, because you can find some really strange things on the Internet. Then it just went from there. I am a worrywart by nature and these posts really freaked me out. So, I read them less. But I have learned that alot of what I have worried about in the past never came to pass. I just figure that I’ll just live my life, trying to grow closer to God and avoid those posts. Otherwise I am going to start have panic attacks again(Valium, anyone?) I know that I don’t want to live through any great tribulation, but with some of the stuff going on today, I’m begining to want Jesus to come back, but at the same time, alot of people I care about will end up going to hell if Jesus came back soon:crying: :crying: :gopray2:

Who are you Meggie to say I will die before you? Did God give you revelation on when my time or any other peoples time is up?

Your quote-“Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour.”

Please follow your own advise. Thanks.
I dont think that she meant any harm in saying this. but commonsense would tell you that if your a good bit older you’ll be gone before her. Sorry, and once again I don’t think she meant any harm.

Father Pavone said that we are supposed to anticipate his return and not be hung up on a particular date, a calamity a point in time or whatever.

Meggie,

It’s as silly and nonsensical as the left behind books. The end is not going to be like that. Scripture paints a very optimistic picture of the future. Where the gospel spreads throughout the whole world like a mustard seed florishing into a beautiful tree. There are many examples throughout the entire Bible of how the gospel will spread and even the Jews will be converted to Christ.

Read up on the Postimillennial (or optimistic amillennialism) view it is the most biblical and many church fathers held to it…including St. Augustine.

It sounds to me like the folks who have been scaring you have been influenced more by Evangelical dispensationalism than by scripture or tradition.

LSK:
I got married on April 25, 1987. By June of 1987 I had started a new job and then discovered I was pregnant! My husband’s birthday was August the 10th. I didn’t tell him about the baby because we were very poor (newly weds, you know!) and that was going to be my birthday gift to him (along with a home cooked meal). On August the 7th I spoke to him 30 minutes before I got off work. At 5:15pm I got home and found him in the backyard, at the bottom of the community pool.

I dove it to get him, and in the horror and confusion of the next few hours I lost the baby.
… That gave me chills. I’m somewhat at a loss of words… sorry, and may God be with you.
