Please teach me rosary for Our Lady of Sorrows

How exactly am I going to do rosary to our lady of sorrows?

I have seen many variations I am confused

There is one rosary. Period.
Pray it and invoke the blessings and prayer of Our Lady of Sorrows while you meditate on the life of Christ.

No, there is a Rosary for the Seven Sorrows of our Blessed Mother.

There certainly is a Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Mary (I used to have one) however at this moment I can’t remember how it goes.

  1. The First Sorrowful Mystery: The Prophecy of Simeon (Lk 2:22-35)
    The Blessed Virgin Mary took Jesus to the temple, as tradition demanded that all newborns be blessed in the temple before God. There, the old priest Simeon held the baby Jesus in his hands, and the Holy Spirit filled his heart. Simeon recognized Jesus as the promised Savior and held the child high toward heaven, thanking God for granting his wish that he would live long enough to behold the Messiah.
    “Now Your servant may depart this life in peace, my Lord,” he said. Then he looked upon Mary and proclaimed, “And you, woman, a sword of sorrow will pierce your heart because of the suffering that shall befall your child.”
    The Blessed Virgin knew that she had given birth to the Savior of humankind, so she immediately understood and accepted Simeon’s prophecy. Although her heart was deeply touched by this favor of bearing the baby Jesus, her heart remained heavy and troubled, for she knew what had been written about the ordeals and subsequent death of the Savior. Whenever she saw her son, she was constantly reminded of the suffering he would be subject to, and his suffering became her own.
    Prayer: Beloved Mother Mary, whose heart suffered beyond bearing because of us, teach us to suffer with you and with love, and to accept all the suffering God deems it necessary to send our way. Let us suffer, and may our suffering be known to God only, like yours and that of Jesus. Do not let us show our suffering to the world, so it will matter more and be used to atone for the sins of the world. Note that all the former indulgences you may read about for chaplets and rosaries were ended when the law of indulgences was revised in 1967.

You can use a simple version like this one on the Marian site:

Personally, since I am in both the Servite and Marian confraternities, I say a different prayer for the Marians and this (or similar) for the Servite.

Only the Gospel of St. John mentions the Virgin Mary at the Cross.

  2. The Desperate Flight of the Holy Family into Egypt (Our Father, 7 Hail Marys)

  4. The Sorrowful Meeting of Jesus & Mary Along the Way of The Cross (Our Father, 7 Hail Marys)
  5. Mary Watches Her Divine Son Suffer and Die upon the Cross (Our Father, 7 Hail Marys)
  6. Jesus is Struck by the Lance, Taken Down from the Cross and Placed in His Poor Mother’s Arms (Our Father, 7 Hail Marys)
  7. Mary Watches as the Body of Her Divine Son is Buried in a Tomb (Our Father, 7 Hail Marys)

The form of the rosary with which most are familiar is the Dominican Rosary with its 15 decades to which St. John Paul II added the five luminous mysteries…but is not the only form of the rosary.

There is the Franciscan Crown, which someone on the thread mentioned and it is a seven decade rosary of Our Lady’s Seven Joys.

The rosary of Our Lady’s Seven Sorrows originated with the Servite Order in the 13th century. The essential elements are that it begins with an act of contrition. One then meditates on the seven sorrows of Mary while saying one Our Father and seven Hail Marys for each of the seven sorrows. It concludes with three Hail Marys in honor of her holy tears.

As you say, Jafar, there are variations on how this rosary is prayed but the essential elements are there and you should not feel anxious to choose one or another. I personally use a brochure that can be obtained from the Servite Fathers but this website is basically how I pray the Servite Rosary.
