Hi. Please tell me about your daily prayer life. I’d like to know about your daily routine, if it’s on a set schedule or spontaneous? Thanks. God bless.

Pretty negligent. I pray before every meal, during Mass, and when I pass a cemetery, but hopefully I can kick it up a notch during Lent.

No, I don’t wanna. My prayer life in general is private unless there is a reason to share it or evangelize. Just me and not speaking for others. Peace.

Hi Cyril of Canada - I subscribe to Give Us This Day so I have morning and evening prayers for each day as well as daily mass readings. Other people choose Magnificat or The Word Among Us - I think something like this is a very useful tool to encourage us in our daily prayer life!

I also pray in the car as I drive to work, attend Adoration at our local chapel, and go to daily mass one or two days a week. So to answer your question - some of my prayer life is spontaneous and some is scheduled; this mix works best for me.

Our Catholic faith offers SO MANY wonderful ways to grow in prayer and faith; please keep searching prayerfully and let God lead you!

Pretty well.

Rosary (15 decades since I am a part of the Rosary Confraternity)
Litany of Saints
Various prayers
Reparation to the Sacred Heart
Our Lady of Sorrows
Kiss my crucifix 3 times and 5 more times for the Wounds of Christ.
Divine Mercy (when I can)

First thing upon waking : Morning Offering and Hail Holy Queen (for consecration to Jesus through Mary) Monday, Wednesday, Friday : daily Mass. Tuesday Adoration. Grace before every meal. Try to remember to do spontaneous prayer, and offer service as prayer throughout the day as able. Family rosary after dinner. Daily examine before falling asleep. That’s my goal, but it doesn’t always work out.

I feel that my prayer life is incomplete. I should make my entire life a prayer, but it is usually reserved to discrete and limited periods of time.

Morning Offering, Consecration to Mary, Memorare upon awakening (even if I wake up in the afternoon, as I sometimes do)

Morning and/or Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours (I am an inveterate night owl and often wake up too late to say Morning Prayer at a reasonable hour [5-9 AM], though I usually say Evening Prayer every evening between 5 and 8 PM)

added intercessions for living relatives, friends, et al. at Morning Prayer: added intercessions for deceased relatives, friends et al. at Evening Prayer (on days that I do not say Morning Prayer, I will do the added intercessions for the living at Evening Prayer in addition to the intercessions for the deceased)

Daily Mass Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

Legion of Mary Tessera (usually without the 5 decades of the Rosary, however)

Living Rosary decade (my assigned mystery is the Annunciation: I don’t always pray it every day, but I try to do so)

26 "Glory Be"s in honor of Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich (I don’t always pray these every day, but I try to do so)

Angelus (I usually am not awake at 6 AM, but I try to pray the Angelus at noon and 6 PM)

brief moment of silent prayer at 3 PM (“By Thy Cross and Precious Blood Thou hast redeemed us. Have mercy on us and save us, O Lord”)

Spiritual Communion prayer at least once daily

Read daily Mass readings and meditations from Magnificat: read daily meditations from Living Faith and The Word Among Us

Read daily Scripture selections etc. from the Office of Readings (Liturgy of the Hours) – I don’t recite the entire Office of Readings, though

Grace before meals (usually silent)

other brief prayers when I can fit them in (e.g., Litany of Humility) – my favorite prayer is below:

O Lord, have mercy on me.
Heal my soul, for I have sinned against Thee.
Forgive me my sins and bring me and each of us to everlasting life.
O Lord, keep Thou the door of my lips
that I say nothing to hurt or harm anybody.
O Lord, guard Thou my actions
that I do nothing to hurt or harm anybody.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

I hope to kick my prayer life up a notch this Lent, to make it more like a life of prayer and not just saying prayers.

I normally pray with my wife for 1/2 hour to an hour first thing in the morning.
I try to pray the daytime breviary at work, at 9, 12, and 3 but that does not usually get done.
We then say a night prayer together at the bedside.
I do a lot of listening to Catholic speakers at work but that is not really prayer.
My prayer life is honestly quite weak.

Ironically CAF is the biggest distraction from my prayer life and causes a loss of peace. I’m trying to curtail that and replace it with prayer.

Hi. Please tell me about your daily prayer life. I’d like to know about your daily routine, if it’s on a set schedule or spontaneous? Thanks. God bless.
I have my deepest praying at night, when all is dark and silent and the world seems to have stopped. I light a candle or dim the lights. I’m thinking of burning candles and incense and making a small altar. What I need is my own little chapel.

Mine definitely needs work. I really only know the prayers in the rosary by heart. I pray it every day, though (20 decades), and I usually make room for Bible reading, at least five chapters a day (or if the book I’m on is less than that, only that book). I also have a little prayer book I’m learning how to use. It has a morning and evening prayer for every day of the week, so I learned to add those.

I pray the tessera for the Legion of Mary which includes the rosary, I pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and I pray the Jesus prayer every day. I try to read at least one chapter of the Bible everyday too. I pray both set prayers and spontaneous. Sometimes the Spirit moves me to pray when I don’t expect to.

I have to keep mine organised as I am quite regimented and I would forget if I just chose to pray whichever prayer I felt like on the day.

I never prayed much but when I retired I decided to start. Here is what I do.

7 LOTH ~ office of readings and morning prayer
9 Peita book & 7 prayers
11 Rosary
1 Conscretion (twice a year)
LOTH ~ Day Prayers
3 3 o’clock prayer
Divine Mercy Chaplet
5 Bible
7 LOTH ~ Evening and night prayers

I’m an hour late on my mid-day berviary reading, cause I like to post on CAF instead of tend to my duties.
Signing off.

I pray before each meal using the Swedish table prayer that has been in my family for 4 generations. I then add a prayer for the souls in purgatory. Before I go to bed, I have a number of written prayers that I pray.

I also spontaneously pray through the day, for example I pray for those involved when an ambulance passes or when a prayer request crosses my desk. I also pray for the prayer requests on this forum.

If you are looking to step up your prayer, I would suggest starting with the prayer requests on this forum.

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks everyone for replying. I asked my spiritual director to help me with my prayer life to get into more of a disciplined routine. As a father and husband of a non-catholic household, I find myself quite busy with daily life. As I seek conversion, I think it is important to work on this aspect of my life, so I humbly wanted to see what I could learn from you all. I love devotions to saints and angels(Especially Litanys). I’m particularly interested about learning how to be more devoted to my guardian angel and other saints every day…

I started with the Liturgy of the Hours, which I found very helpful. I especially enjoyed the Office of Readings. The Book of Psalms in the Liturgy of the Hours really inspired me to start to read further.

I am a fan of the Benedictine rosary, and also a fan of the traditional Latin Mass, pre-Vatican II. The Mass is the ultimate prayer routine, along with the Divine Office.

In my prayer and studies, I have also found great enjoyment reading and praying from traditional Jewish texts. These prayers are very powerful, especially when prayed in Hebrew.

Thirty minutes of contemplative prayer in the morning, and thirty minutes of contemplative prayer in the evening.

And like Thérèse of Lisieux, I strongly dislike saying the rosary, but I say one per day anyway.
