Well, you non-Catholics like the idea of asking your pastors and fellow congregation members to pray for you, your family members, and friends when you (they) are ill, experiencing wordly hardships, and the like. Your pastors and fellow congregation members are interceding on your behalf when they do. So, how is that any different when we Catholics ask our dead loved ones, Mary, Jesus, and the Saints to pray for us or our loved ones? Granted, they are physically dead, as With Questions, has already stated, but we Catholics view them as living people in Heaven and if God wills it and hears us then he can will the dead who are now living in Heaven to hear us as well. After all, God is omnipotent (all-powerful), is he not?
When you say it is stupid or useless or wrong for us Catholics to ask our dead loved ones, Mary, Jesus, and the Saints to interced on our behalf through prayer because they are dead and cannot hear us *then *you are limiting God’s power.
God Bless,
Jean
