Plenary Indulgence, porta sancta?

Our Cathedral here in Miami has made one of there doors a “holy door” for the year of faith and attached a plenary indulgence to it. From the Cathedral website:

The usual conditions of the Plenary Indulgence are to receive the Sacrament of Confession, Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father and to attend Holy Mass on a Sunday at the Pilgrimage Church. When you come here to The Cathedral to receive this Shower of Mercy, please enter through the Porta Sancta and bless yourself with the Holy Water as a sign of walking with Christ into the new life of Baptism.

I have a question about meeting these conditions. Do they all have to be done on the same day? I went to confession today, can I go to mass tomorrow and do the rest of the conditions or do I have to go to confession tomorrow too?

Also, if anyone has more information on this practice that would be awesome.

They do not have to be done all on the same day. They must be done within seven days of each other, and you must have the intent to receive the indulgence. For example, you can’t simply do them in passing and then a month later think, “Gee, I met requirements for a plenary indulgence.” No, you have to know that the indulgence is what you are seeking.

It is generally easier to perform all the requirements in as short a period as possible, because being free of all sin (this includes venial sin) is exceedingly difficult the longer you go.

Note, these are the requirements to receive a plenary indulgence. If you fail to meet any of them, you still receive a partial indulgence.

Yes, you need to have at least the general intent in order to receive it. I’d have to re-check my Handbook of Indulgences. I thought that Confession could be within 21 days. But perhaps I’m remembering it wrong.
