Pluck, pluck, pluck!

After I graduated from highschool, my mom took me to get my eyebrows shaped better.

Up to this day, I still have to pluck out the growing-in hairs in order to keep that nice shape of my eyebrows.

Is that a sin I have to confess? And the reason why I’m asking that is because sometimes I get “ingrowns” and I have to kinda “break” open the skin in order to get it out before it gets infected! :eek: :eek:

That is called “grooming.” It is not a sin. It is not even the sin of vanity, unless you pluck yourself into some caricature of human eyebrows rather than just trimming the “extras.” Much less is it a sin of self-mutilation.
 
I noticed that the nuns on EWTN have their eyebrows shapped. No, it’s not a sin.

No way this is a sin. Pluck away all you want.
 
Isnt the purpose of plucking to make oneself more attractive?

Im not saying its a sin but just hard to judge.

Is it a sin to shave your legs? Probably not, but then again, we have to check with the Church first.

Of course its not a sin if its for health reasons.

And, btw, NEVER judge is something is a sin or not based on what you see nuns/priests doing/not doing.

A bit of a confusing topic i guess.

Lol, is squeezing a pimple a sin?

You / God know your heart, if its a sin, you’ll figure it out.
 
I’d say that’s a fine line between being normal and overly scrupulous, which IS a sin itself.

Is using deodorant a sin? We don’t technically NEED it…

Don’t worry too much.
 
Hmm, look at it this way - by not plucking/waxing my eyebrows I could lead someone else into sin. How?

Well, if I did not have my eyebrows waxed then it would in fact turn into an eyebrow. Note: singular usage of brow. My unibrow that would then take over my forehead potentially causing someone in public to stare at me and think uncharitable thoughts/jokes about my physical appearance. That would be unkind of them. This could be sinful in nature depending on how far they wanted to take making fun of my brow.

So I will save someone else from falling into sin by continuing my grooming endeavors. Long live the Wax! 😛 :rolleyes:

Yes, sometimes I tend to do this… Am I sick or what?
 
I offer up the pain from plucking to God. And i have been known to pluck leg hairs, toe hairs, etc. because i heard if you pluck a hair often enough, it won’t grow back. Maybe we are sick, Paris, but at least we’re not hairy. 😛

Wow, when you say (in other posts) that you’re scrupulous, you aren’t kidding! 😛 I really hope it’s not a sin, because not only do I pluck, but I get them waxed at $15 a pop! I think that’s a sin on the part of the salon, but that’s another story! 😉 (just kidding about that being a sin, BTW :rolleyes: ).

But seriously, I do not think making oneself attractive is a sin. We buy nice clothes that fit properly, we wash our hair daily, we apply a little lipstick and blush, we don’t mix plaids and stripes, all in the name of attractiveness. It’s normal and natural to want to be pretty.

Well, if it is sin, I need to reserve the family section in Hell.

I get mine done at the salon, as does my 15 year old son, my brother and my dad 👍
