Are there any pocket-sized Catholic Bibles that exist (whether they are NAB: RE, RSV/RSV: CE, DR, JB, NJB, etc.)?

By pocket sized I’m talking like really “pocket-sized,” in similar size to those Gideon NKJV New Testaments that Gideon International hands out to everyone for example. It would be really nice, for once, to have a real pocket-sized Bible but one of a Catholic translation.

I think the smallest Catholic Bible I own is the RSV: CE Burgundy zipper by Oxford University Press and that one is still two or three times the size of a Gideon’s pocket Bible.

If you have a smartphone you can have about 20 translations and commentaries in your pocket 😃

I don’t unfortunately, I’m still stuck in the dark ages with my flip phone. I’ve never seen it as necessary to have all that extra junk on a phone, though I can see why some people may want to have those Bible apps available to them at any time.

I know that there is a St. Joseph New American pocket Bible available; not sure if they have it available in the NAB: RE yet.

I managed to get a pocket 1940’s RSV New Testament off of ebay (about the same size as a Gideon’s pocket Bible) so I’ll see how it compares. The only thing I don’t like is that since it is an “antique” in good condition, I will have to be careful with it; no major highlighting, no bending the book, etc.
 
Have a look in a Christian bookshop. They usually have lots of different sized Bibles in lots of different translations. The Catholic Bible is the same as the Protestant Bible. The only difference is the Apocrypha, which is, after all apocryphal.

It always frustrates me that I can walk into any Walmart and find a superb little pocket KJV, yet even with the power of the Internet am still unable to find a Catholic equivalent.
 
I have an Ignatius pocket NT with Psalms with a blue leather cover and ivory paper that is really lovely. I also have a 1941 Confraternity edition pocket NT with vinyl cover and days printed into it (to be on a reading plan) that is about $10.

Gideon bibles use the KJV which to me seems ridiculous, if you are trying to evangelize people who haven’t read the bible before. The archaic language is incomprehensible and off-putting. But it’s public domain so that’s what they use.

This really is a very nice NT and Psalms! The print size is the same as the regular RSV-2CE Bible ( about size 9). Get the bonded leather version for about 15 dollars at Amazon!
