Police raided a wedding between a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl in Pakistan’s largest city, arresting the Muslim cleric officiating at the ceremony and the children’s parents, a senior officer said.

The cleric had not yet begun the ceremony in Karachi , which was attended by 100 guests, said deputy superintendent of police Malik Mazhar.

At least it was stopped in the nick of time. Perhaps this is a good sign after Pervez’s resignation?

If only Indonesian police were as effective.

Pakistan law forbids marriage below the age of 18, but some Muslim scholars say it is permissible if the bride and groom have reached puberty.

The Muslim scholars are right here, Muhammed married Aisha before she reached puberty. (E) (A).

Will anyone from my fellow Muslims let her/his daughter or son marry at that age!!!

Then why would Allah allow his prophet to do so, is Allah really God or someone else…

The Indonesian police won’t do a damn thing against that. The issue about Islam is very sensitive, especially close to the next presidential election in 2009. The head of our national commission for children protection did, and managed to persuade such children marriage to be stopped.
