She died over 100 years ago and was Cannonized just about 100 years ago but was named Doctor of the church something like 20 years ago… i think.

Who was the last saint to be named a doctor of the church?
St. Therese of Lisieux
upon further review, St. Gregory of Narek, while living close to 1000 years earlier was just made Doctor of the church in 2015.

I wonder if we will get a new Doctor of the Church. It would be great if so, but I’d understand if not.

Saint JP ll the great is probably already a doctor in heaven. It’s just logical and reasonable. 😇

I am afraid John Paul the Great will have to wait to be declaired a doctor since there are many in power currently who are trying to discredit or obsure some of his most important contributions.

But the Church will endure, and the incredible gift of his teaching will one day be appreciated. While those who seek to contridict his work will be “relegated to the scrap-heap of history”. Their names, if noted at all, will be accociated with the futile attempt to silence the work of the greatest man of the 20th century.

And I believe Pope Benedict named St Hildegard a doctor several years ago… a thousand years after she lived… that brings the number of women doctors up to 4?

St Gregory of Narek is a fascinating case. While named a Doctor of the Church, I don’t think he was even in formal communion with Rome! He was Oriental Orthodox.
