This has bothered me and it does every year: While EWTN gives full coverage to the prolife march not one of the 7 Protestant channels gives it even the slightest mention. No reference at all.
If we will defeat abortion we need to geth the Protestant networks involved on our side.
(There is no denying that some of the most prolife people are Protestants including some of their ministers. But I would like to see the tv evangelists give it some attention.)

a lot of people dont really know what it means to be prolife, so the numbers are probably lower than that. ive encountered many people under the mistaken impression that theyre “prolife,” despite saying theyre ok with others making their own choices with their pregnancies. thats prochoice.

Can someone clarify for me – is prolife agreeing with abortion but only in some cases.

I read the article but the figure isn’t 51%… only 11% are against abortion in any circumstances.

“Prolife” is what you say it is, but this survey suggests the Catholic position is rejected by 89% of Americans.

I was surprised at that as well. No coverage on any of the Protestant religious channels. There were Protestants in attendance on the March for Life, marchers, and speakers. Protestant TV channels should of provided TV coverage.

Cnn and Gallup polls have found the majority of Americans want restrictions on abortion; unrestricted access that Obama supports is supported by a minority.

“Pro-life” you will find, in real life, depends on who you talk to. Many people consider themselves prolife if they only allow abortion in the case or rape, incest and when the life of the mother is at risk. Even the article implie that this is a pro-life position. But some very conservative prolifers will say they are opposed to all abortions, in all circumstances, and require that of their peers in order to be called “pro-life”. All else, according to them, is ‘pro-choice’.

And according to that criteria, it’s not anywhere close to 51% … you are correct. The headline is misleading unless pro-life allows for those exceptions. It’s only 11%, according to the article. So you see, LifeNews is counting those considered ‘pro-choice’ into the 51%, which makes very strict pro-lifers only 11%:
A new national survey conducted by the Marist Institute and commissioned by the Knights of Columbus finds 79 percent of Americans say that they would not allow abortion after the first three months of pregnancy. Another 51 percent would only allow abortion – at most – in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother – or would not allow it at all.
That second number is a positive one showing more than half of Americans take a pro-life position on abortion saying they want all or almost all abortions to not be permitted. Breaking down the figure further, 11 percent say abortion should never be permitted under any circumstance, 9 percent say abortion should be allowed only to save the life of the mother and 31% opposed permitting 98% of all abortions by saying abortion should be allowed only in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. Just 12 percent agree with pro-abortion President Barack Obama saying “abortion should be available to a woman any time she wants one during her entire pregnancy.”
The numbers have held up over time as well and are almost unchanged from two years ago, the pro-life Catholic group says.

Right. The majority of Americans are not in favor of unbridled, unrestricted abortion. But they don’t like it when pro-lifers target rape victims, incest victims and women whose life is in danger by the demands of a pregnancy. Nor do most ‘pro-lifers’ count birth control int hte mix. That’s been consistent for a while.
