Unfortunately "shouldn’t“ and “don’t“ aren’t the same thing. I see females in cassock and surplice all the times.

Funny thing is deacons are one of the few groups I rarely if ever see wearing a cassock and surplice. Seems the cassock isn’t seen by most as clerical garb anymore.
 
I think that cassock and surplice is 100% more traditional and acceptable. Albs look like potato sacks.
