Events will be taking place all week and parades on the weekend. I believe the events are mainly for high school level students. Last year, thousands of schools participated.

Some groups are calling for parents to keep their children home on April 18.

Four thousand schools had events in 2005. Here is the list of schools.

I’m in between…

No when there younger. When they get older yes to bare witness to the truth…

Or maybe we’d take the day off for prayer and Mass to stop this mess…

Still gay marriage is banned in most states and there are holes growing all over the place…

Plus my generation is starting to go conservative. Always think positive people 😉

Interesting topic.

I looked at the list of past participants and was surprised (not) by the number of Catholic schools. In my area both of the all-girls High Schools are listed but none of the co-ed or all-boys schools are. Curious.

If we were still living here (Texas) I would let my kids go to school and encourage them to not keep silent. I would also try to get the administration to allow them to hand out “talking cards” about freedom of religion and freedom from religious persecution to counter the “talking cards” the homosexual groups are handing out. This is not a huge movement here in Texas, at least not where I live. And after all, the talkers would be getting all the class participation points for the day. 😃 If the talkers stayed home the percentage of those choosing to be silent would seem larger than it really is.

In another location, where the homosexual agenda groups are more organized or militant, I would probably keep my kids at home, at least until they are in High School. No need to subject them to harassment, even if they are able to witness.

Maybe with all those people gone. The kids could actually learn something that should be taught in schools. I would send my child to school and be happy that there were not going to be so called progressive minds there that day.

When I was in middle school, there was that “Hands Across America” thing, that apparently raised a lot of money for hungry people in Africa…I think.

Does anyone really think that the average teenager is aware of the depth of any social justice activity – good or bad – in which they participate? It’s an opportunity to fit in, pure and simple.

Don’t boycott the school that day; don’t counter-demonstrate. Just be good Catholic parents to your own kids, and pray that it rubs off on a few of them.

Peace,
Dante

In Massachusetts most high schools participated and welcomed it. Thousands of rainbow bracelets and pledge cards were given out along with some free tee shirts. Students duct taped their mouth or wore ribbons.
Parents who kept their child home were chastised.

The principal had previously told parent Bob Bennett that there would be a table available to put literature on. When he entered the school , he was escorted out by police…

I voted yes, I would, but in reality I won’t. Since I home school. We will just have a normal day.

I’m probably going to school that day - so I won’t vote. However I think that we (catholics) need to organize and start our own campaign. I mean I’ve heard of the “Day of Truth”, however I find this to be ineffective, because it doesn’t echo the position of the Church and simply states that they won’t go to heaven. Really I think we need our own campaign. One that talks about sexual ethics, and morality. One that uses both theology and the natural law.

I have a nephew at St. Ignatius, a Jesuit high school partaking in the “Day of Silence.” A friend of his created a website when mom and dad would not let him stay home or the day.

He and his friends are encouraging students to wear Red Ties in memory of all the victims of the Gay Agenda.

I plan to participate a little in MSU’s Day of Silence. My best friend is gay and I unflinchingly support him because he’s a good person and I love him, hes the best friend I’ve ever had. Thim (and my gay cousin) I’ve seen how hard it can be for homosexuals. I’ve quieted his tears, talked until the wee hours of the morning and even once helped him cover up bruises inflicted upon him by a homophobic YAF member.
If you don’t know about YAF heres a couple links: YAF’s site: msu.edu/~yaf/

What hurts him hurts me

To this kid “You go boy!”

Thanks Diago. The red ties will also symbolize the many that have died from HIV/Aids. I wonder how they will perceive it.

Did you watch the U-Tube VIDEO I posted…

On April 18, 2007, Remember the Victims of Homosexual Abuse by Wearing a Red Tie to School
The administration at St. Ignatius High School may be backing the pro-homosexual Day of Silence, but the majority of students at St. Ignatius are not buying it. St. Ignatius students believe their classmates deserve the truth about the deadly and sinful homosexual lifestyle…not silence.

{Civil Union have now passed the house and may be passed the democratic Senate and Governor in New Hampshire.)😦
Wearing RED TIES or something red is a good idea. Here is another.

Day of truth is a counter expression to take place April 19, 2007.

Teens Battle Gay Agenda in Schools
By Michael F. Haverluck

April 7, 2007

CBNNews.com – Many Christian teens in America’s high schools are no longer content with having their biblical views silenced while the homosexual agenda is actively promoted on their campuses.

That’s why on April 19, more than 5,000 Christian students from more than 1,000 high schools in 50 states will participate in the 3rd annual “Day of Truth” event.

The Day of Truth, sponsored by the Alliance Defense Fund, gives students a platform on which to stand against the promotion of homosexuality. Students initiating the event at their schools are offered special assistance by ADF.

Students participating in the Day of Truth present their Christian views on homosexuality in a peaceful and respectful way, during non-instructional time. They hand out informative DOT cards, wear DOT shirts, hang DOT posters, and engage in compelling dialogue to raise student awareness about the dangers and spiritual darkness of a homosexual lifestyle.

Wednesday April 18 is almost here. I hope parents call schools to complain.

My Catholic university has a group promoting the day of silence, and a week of “Standing against Hate”.

Today, though, the group sponsored a Holocaust Memorial on one of our quads, with various signs about the numbers of different groups of people who were killed in the Holocaust, accompanied by the now-meaningless phrase “Never Again!” (What on earth do you mean, ‘never again’? Can’t you see that genocide and mass slaughter are happening right now, both in countries like the Sudan, and in millions of mother’s wombs?)

To use such a memorial to justify a week of homosexual activism seems quite inappropriate to me, though the direct connection wasn’t exactly made on the signs.

If we were still living here (Texas) I would let my kids go to school and encourage them to not keep silent. I would also try to get the administration to allow them to hand out “talking cards” about freedom of religion and freedom from religious persecution to counter the “talking cards” the homosexual groups are handing out.
Care to explain how anything at all regarding the day of silence impacts a person’s freedom of religion in any way whatsoever?
