This I really don’t understand. Are they misinformed, ignorant, or just don’t care about eternal damnation? I think people need to stop sugarcoating everything and put the fear of hell back into society. Maybe then they’ll feel the need to confess.

Even though I’m young I agree. Sugarcoating everything is not helping. I would LIKE to see more stories on hell, and such. I guess it all went down hill in the 60s. Most Americans just want heaven, and no hell.

As grim as that approach is, I couldn’t agree more. Everyone is focused on how much God loves them but no one remembering we have to repent for our sins against him. Hell is a profound reminder that love only goes so far. It’s kinda arrogant on our part to believe God loves us despite hurting him everyday without apologizing.
When you have fiery worms eating your vitals, you’ll remember to apologize.

Roman Catholicism isn’t fun. About a year ago, someone posted a thread titled " Being Catholic Ruins Everything ", or something close to that.
It certainly ruins Satan’s plans. Catholicism is an all or nothing faith IMHO. One can’t pick cherries in order to develop their own little Catholic spirituality. It’s a sad situation that can only be overcome by solid catechesis. When catholics are left to build faith on there own, many fail.

Where have you been for the past 30 years since the Novus Ordo came into being, standing for Holy Communion, Communion in the hand, Lay people distributing… of course why not? Would you expect, that these new innovations would lead to a strengthening of the faith?
Both of my brothers who are Catholic believe that the Eucharist is a symbol…they do not believe in Transubstantiation. They have both attended non-Catholic liturgies that are almost identical to what we have now - no wonder they believe the way they do because it is all now the same.

How would have you taken communion b4 Vatican II? I am young, but would much rather be traditional. At my parish I take it standing up in the hand. Priest only gives it half the time too. (Other people give communion).

Pre Vatican II, the Eucharist was received kneeling at the altar railing, and was given only by the priest.
