This poll is open to anyone who has attended or is attending a Catholic institution of learning. It is not necessary to have graduated, but to have simply attended for the majority of at least one full school-year.

I probably missed something. I’m just not that smart, despite my Catholic school education. My penmanship is exquisite, however. If I missed something, please comment about it below, or simply share something about your experience if you wish.

when i was younger, a kid, i went to sunday school every wednsay and sunday after church and we sang together with the priests and the mothers. i enjoyed it so much. thanks Jesus for the experiences. in Tanimbar, Maluku, Indonesia.

I went to Catholic elementary from k - 8th grade, but only 1 full year of Catholic high school. All in all it was a wonderful experience. Some of the nuns were very tough, but they cared about us, and really wanted us to learn. I remember writing my lessons in fountain pen, after moving up from crayons and pencils. Ball point pens were verboten until I think the 7th grade.

Op, can you change your poll so that those who are not voting can see the results? Thanks
I tried to change it, but the system tells me that a poll cannot be edited after the first five minutes. I’m sorry.

Sadly I can’t vote as it’s country specific… I dont even know which country, lol. Never heard of pre-k ??? elementary I have heard of but would not know what years it pertains too. Is this what American school is called 😃 . I did 2 and a half years of Catholic convent before I had to go to normal school (government school) for financial reasons.

You’ve also got multiple options conveying the same thing.

I went to a Catholic university for law school, although it was very Catholic in name only.

I’ve taken a number of grad credit courses with a Newman Guide college, plus courses through Notre Dame STEP, U. of Dayton VLCFF, and elsewhere. Now I work on call for Catholic schools.

😁 “Pre-K” stands for “Pre-Kindergarten”. It is also called “Pre-School”. It is generally for children ages 3 and 4. Kindergarten is for children age 5.

“Elementary school” in this poll refers to Kindergarten, and grades 1 through 8. Some places make the distinction between “elementary school” as being grades K through 4 or 5, and “middle school” as being grades 5 or 6 through 8. And sometimes, grades 7 and 8 are referred to as “Junior High”.

High School is generally grades 9 through 12.

Hopefully that doesn’t make things more confusing.😝

I went to grade school from 1-8 at a Catholic school. I wished to go to high school, but it closed. I credit the school for giving me a good basic education that has served me well in life.

Yes, I went to a Catholic elementary from 1st to 6th grade. (They didn’t have a kindegarten at the time). In 6th, I told my parents that I was going to the public school the next year. (I didn’t realize that they struggled with that - and I was the only one of 6 kids that went that route). I just needed a bigger pond to swim in at that age. But 7th grade at the public school was pretty much a repeat of 6th in a number of subjects. (In February, I handed my math teacher every problem from the rest of the book). The one subject that we didn’t have at the Catholic school was phy-ed. In that regard, I was behind.

Thanks! Its still a little confusing. I went in grade 1 and 2 and up to half way through standard 1…so not much like American schooling, though I think it has changed to grades all the way up now.

I did 1st - 12th grade.

1st - 8th was well intentioned but catechesis was only okay.

High School was run by the Basilians and was amazing.

Catholic grade school [grades 1-8] at the parish school, and one year at a Catholic high school…I was the oldest of six, and Catholic high school was too expensive to go any further…kindergarten didn’t exist at Catholic schools back then…

I made my selection on my phone and hit the wrong button. I attended both Catholic elementary and high school

I made the wrong choice at first, too. I was able to click “Hide Results” and then change my vote. I’m not sure if that option is the same on mobile, though.
