I answered “No,” but that is because frankly I do not see the reason.

Does this mean you have chosen to not use any form of child spacing or birth control methods? I hope that is the case.

Using artificial birth control methods is not good if you understand the Teachings of the Catholic Church. I just wondered what you meant by not seeing a reason for NFP. I don’t use NFP now either, but it is because I am willing to become pregnant.

I sort of fit in this category. We are not avoiding pregnancy at all. A category for those who aren’t using any type of contraception, whether natural or not, would be neat.

**How many people are letting God determine the size of their family by not using any contraceptive methods?/**QUOTE]

As renee 1258 pointed out in the previous post, your statement is a bit of a misnomer; because God “determines” the size of your family in consent with your cooperation, whether a passive or active exercise of your free will consent and partaking in His perfect will for childbearing.

I am not right now, because I really don’t feel like waking up to tkae my temp or check mucus when it has all been the exact same for about two weeks. Hee Hee. I will again later though.

Warning, NFP doesn’t work to well to prevent when two people think it would be great to have a baby. HEE HEE 😃

But I did use the pill for a year and half trying to get my skin under control, because acne can make people question your maturity in college.

Yes we use NFP. In the beginning of our marriage when I was a lapsed Catholic (and really had no clue about the teachings) we used condoms and then I had Norplant (it’s inserted under your skin in your arm). That was a disaster. My periods were so screwed up, I bled nearly all the time. And getting it removed was unbelievably painful. I also have a small scar on my arm which is reminder to me always of the mistake I made.

While I was pregnant I returned to the Church and began studying church teaching. When she was a toddler we took an NFP class, my husband had just converted to the Church. I’ve had to use it ever since because of a life threatening heart problem. My daughter is now 9. I’m the poster child to refute those who say NPF doesn’t work.

Yes, an option for those who are trying to achieve pregnancy would be good. (Anyone using NFP is “open” to pregnancy.")

However: one last time: NFP IS NOT CONTRACEPTION!!! As discussed all over this forum, a contraceptive makes the marriage act sterile, by killing the sperm or preventing it from reaching the egg. NFP takes advantage of the naturally infertile time in a woman’s cycle. It’s not “natural contraception;” it’s not contra-anything.

Sigh. :banghead:

Should be another choice - my wife and I used it for a long time in a vain effort to get pregnant again. I have 4 children – had to adopt the last one. Oldest is 31 youngest is 3.

Wish we had 4 more.

Have always used Billings method NFP. Very difficult sacrifice that we give in obediance, if not joyfulness. Just not there yet, I guess.

It is REMARKABLY effective however. For us, 100% effective in avoiding pregnancy, 50% effective in attempting pregnancy (2 girls so far). A lot of people don’t realize that NFP can be very effective in helping those who WANT to conceive.

I highly recommend the Billing Method. It is a mucus only method and makes a strong case that the “thermo” part many still spend time doing is less than helpful.
