I didnāt vote either because none really fit. I never dated a guy until my husband (minus 1 blind date with a brother of one of my friends boyfriends that didnāt work out.)
I got the impression when guys would come talk to me and my my friends (this is highschool) they giving me a bunch of pick up lines and going out of their way to act ācoolā. Complete turn off. And I didnāt trust guys like that.
So anyway I met my husband at a local park when I was walking there with a friend of mine. I recognized him from school although we had never talked (it was a very big highschool). Him and his friend came and talk to us. Dating him was the furthest thing from my mind. But there was a connection. Itās the same kind of connection I felt when I met my bestfriend when we were 13, (weāre still bestfriends 19 years later). Itās hard to put into words.
He wasnāt going out of his way to impress me, and he wasnāt cocky. The funny thing is when my friend and I left the park that day I said to her āMy parentsās would kill me if I brought home a guy like that.ā Because of his outward appearance. Motorcycle jacket complete with spikes, ripped jeans, skull rings on his fingers, and long hair. Yikes! At the time I thought he was an average looking guy as far as attactiveness goes.
So how did we go from friends to dating? I trusted him and he always treated me with respect. He has a very good heart even if he didnāt always use his head.
Well when I did ābring this guy homeā after hanging out as friends in school my mom says āHe looks like a nice boyā

Donāt ask me how she came up with that, but I guess his personality comes through.
Now if youād asked me how attractive my husband is, Iād say heās the hottest thing around. Even hotter than Jon Bon Jovi (and thatās saying alot!) Honestly I think he has grown more handsome with age (not that he was bad looking before), but I also think as my love has grown deeper through the years he is more attractive not just for how he looks but who he is.
Now, whatās important? Trust, honesty, sensitivety, respect, self sacrifice. And some of those are things we had to learn as we āgrew upā together. I married him when I was 18, so we had alot of growing up to do. It was very hard at times. Do I have regrets for following my heart and not my head - not for a moment. I adore my husband!
