Poll: Hard 'g' or soft 'g?'

There are three places in England called Gillingham. Two of them, one in Dorset and the other in Norfolk, are pronounced with a hard g. The third, in Kent, is pronounced “Jillingham.”

When I was checking this information in Wikipedia just now, I discovered there is also a Gillingham in Wisconsin. But we’re not told how the name is pronounced. Can it be a secret that outsiders are not supposed to know about?
