actually committing scandal themselves, they often are still in the Church for the wrong reasons - using it as a vehicle for social and/or secular change, for example. A general lack of vitality attracts weaker candidates who seek their own ends while living off of the Church - the faithful perceive that very easily and it does incredible damage to the Church. So they leave for something healthier and more suited to their own needs. Some lose their faith; some take it elsewhere.

I don’t understand this paragraph. Could you rephrase it for me?

. I am a convert of only 6 years and I really miss Benedict. .
I can understand that…think of the big grace of having the hearts of two " living Popes" praying for our Church, for whatever reason it happened. That is kind of heart warming…

I wonder why they feel the need to win Catholics?
r.
I don’t know. What I know is that Latin America is very Marian. She won’t let go. And we are holding her mantle tightly. Do pray for us,7 Sorrows, please.

Also, while many of those who join a Church suffering neglect and corruption are
Sorry, Gracie, that phrase was unclear and I didn’t fix it. I was talking about clergy who join, not laity. My idea was that if you have a Church that is in bad shape (scandals, corruption not attended to), it attracts weaker (less faith-driven) candidates, who in turn make the situation worse. (I am just speculating as to what is driving laity away.)

Yes. Very unique! The world and the Church need their prayers desperately today.

One of mine was unclear too.
My personal experience of God started not through reason. My mother loved me , well she still does ! And it was through loving her that much that I tasted her love for Jesus and made Him my friend out if love for her first.
It was then , when I grew older that I started learning through reason.
I am just sharing with you this. Thinking with you.

So…I was attracted out of love, and I was a simple and uneducated child.
I may be wrong when saying that people who are less educated and simple are attracted by evangelists because I myself may be simpler and less educated than you,Follow Christ,Pro Nobis,7 Sorrows, and whoever is participating so… Where do I go from here? Maybe I am looking in the wrong direction. What has education and simplicity got to do with it all? My trap?.Ugg

Nobody has yet pointed out the most stunning bit from the study: 60% of former Catholics left the Church because they wanted MORE emphasis on morals.

How about that!
Where did you get this statistic from?

My ancestry is of European caucasian decent. My grandparents were immigrants and though not perfect, were good people too. And more faithful than some of us in the family today. But I haven’t heard any of us speak bad about them. Maybe you’re right though that it depends on the family. Peace be with you and yours and all families. And may Latin and other families be together even if there are differences in faith among the various members,
See you say that you haven’t but that’s not always the case. And because your ancestry were good people and good Catholics, that is reason enough for you to better yourself.

Ill tell you two stories, one, this girl where I work she’s a nurse, and she was saying, she’s white btw, oh my grandma prays the rosary for me all the time, but Im not going to be old school. You know, why do we think that were better than our ancestry? Were not one bit. This girl although a nurse, you should see how she treats patients, she has several tattoos, and is the nicest person with patients.

Second, this happened with my girlfriends pastor at a Seventh Day Adventist church, he said in Guatemala I was Catholic, but I came here and found out my ancestors were ignorant for being Catholic. Once again, what makes you think, were better than our ancestors?

They believed without reading the Bible, they were truly faithful men and women, yet we come and want to change that.
