I’m sure there is a poll for this that already exists, but I can’t seem to find it.

This poll is to determine how “close” you are to the catholic church, not your precise religious perspective.

Since this poll has been posted in the non-catholic thread, we may see a bias in favor of non-catholic religions.

This looks interesting.

I don’t see very many Satanists

So what exactly are you asking here? What church people are closest to?

Young Piney Grove Baptist church. I have never gone to Services there but it is physically the closest church building but I am very Catholic. I had to be Mr. Literal today, it’s just who I am.

‘So what exactly are you asking here? What church people are closest to?’

I’m an Anglican.

The church closest to me is a Buddhist Church down the road.

I’m not sure I could be further from the church theologically, but it’s a religion dear to my family, and I can see beauty in it.

I marked pantheist on the poll, but I am a religious pantheist, so I don’t exactly fit the sort that was given as an option on the poll.

Baha’is are monotheists.
And pantheists too, right? And panantheists? And animists? Don’t Baha’i teachers say all the major religions are expressions of one underlying truth? So if you are Baha’i you must affirm Hinduism which is panantheism.

Thanks for your question “Mammoths”…

Baha’is are not pantheists…

"Briefly, the superior reality does not descend nor abase itself to inferior states; then how could it be that the Universal Reality of God, which is freed from all descriptions and qualifications, notwithstanding Its absolute sanctity and purity, should resolve Itself into the forms of the realities of the creatures, which are the source of imperfections? This is a pure imagination which one cannot conceive."

A longer explanation:

We Baha’is do affirm that all the major religions have a Divine Source but over time some of the spiritual truths have been forgotten… Read the next to last topic of this paper:

“The Bahá’í claim that all religions ultimately can be traced back to God asserts a fundamental unity and continuity of the religions, but it does not ignore the discontinuities and differences. Religions are bewilderingly diverse and contain many apparent contradictions. Bahá’ís resolve apparent contradictions among them in a variety ways.”

Hope the above will help!👍

Re Baha’i, I think it does. It sounds like you are say that all religions have some connection to what I would call God, there is decay in the accuracy of that revelation over time and therefore apparent contradictions develop?

Thanks again “Mammoths” for your question!

We believe what happens when spiritual truths are lost over time is that God sends new Manifestations or Messengers of God to restore the original spiritual truths.👍

Didn’t vote. A Catholic by birth and by belief. Not interested in its similarity to other religions. If it is or if it is not, how does one bench mark it? It does not make sense to me. To me, if you are not a Catholic, then you are not and what you believe has no bearing on me. 😉

“Cafeteria” Catholic seems to be quite a good label for me these days.
