I am doing my own study, I am conducting a poll and like to know who we are and where we stand on homosexuality. Please vote for one and make a comment if you like. Thanks,

Chaste Gay, Catholic
Active Gay, Catholic
Straight, but Support Gay Rights, Catholic
Straight, do not Support Gay Rights, Catholic
Chaste Gay, none Catholic
Active Gay, none Catholic

Straight, do not Support Gay Rights, none Catholic
Don’t Care

Define what you mean by “gay rights”.
Exactly!

If Bass is talking about the right to call it “marriage” and live actively as a homosexual that’s one thing, but if he/she is just talking about “equal employment, housing and benefits”, thats a horse of a different color.

This is why I don’t like “polls” as a general rule. They can mislead those who partake in them and give a skewed point of view.

It’s unfortunate that you made this an “open poll” because I think you would’ve gotten more votes if those voting weren’t made public. That’s true for polls in general I think.

I voted Catholic, against gay rights but I’d like to define that. I think they have every right to live and work in peace and not be denied housing or employment opportunities because of their sexual choices. As US citizens, we all have rights - gays included. I don’t think they need special rights because they are gay. I don’t even really care if they chose to be married in some sort of civil fashion. My Church says it’s wrong - so I’ll go with that… but honestly, if you were to ask me - I don’t care. I am a live and let live, and while I think it’s sinful… it’s their choice. When I hear stories of two gay people who have spent their lives together and one of them is terribly ill and the other isn’t allowed to see them because they aren’t “family” - well, I think that’s just so sad.

What I am dead set against is gays thinking they have a right to be married in the Church. What our government is OK with and what our Church is OK with are two totally different things.

And does this mean homosexuals have to carry cards to identify themselves?

I’m asking about a clarification of what this poll reflects.

What the heck are you talking about and in reference to?

Define what you mean by “gay rights”.
sorry for not being clear enough. yes gay rights meaning gay marriage and adoption. these are the two primary rights the gay community is fighting for today. and my goal is to know how you identify yourself, I think the list is clear!

Homosexuals already have all the rights guaranteed to American citizens in our Constitution. Why do you feel they have a need for more?

Neither one of those is a right.

Jeez guys its not that difficult of a question, I even gave you answers to select from. i know we all have rights as citizens, but that’s what’s they call it today, Gay Rights. I think you all know what I am asking here, you can put your opinion if you like, but what I want to know is, which of the options describes you. all I want to know is, who is for it, who is not and whether you are gay or not.

Yes, you did, and, as has been pointed out, by leaving key terms undefined, the poll is even more useless than most Internet polls. For example, if “gay rights” is defined as “the right to adopt children,” then no one can sensibly be in the pro- camp because adopting children isn’t a right.

Et cetera, et cetera.

i know what it is and what’s not, that’s not my question. today when the world talks about gay rights, they are talking about marriage and adoption. and based on that, where do you stand and which one you identify yourself with?

Mmm, and there’s no option for “bisexual” under any heading, either, so some of us wouldn’t be able to vote, either.

Hmmm…i don’t think there is enough room to list everything! 🙂 but if you are bisexual then you can still select gay…👍

The OP is not for gay rights - not hardly. Look at the link on his posts.
I took your advice.

My apologies, Bass. When new members start posting on certain topics, this being one of them, sometimes they are not really sincere. (Gee, maybe I am getting too jaded; I have been here a while.)

no apology is necessary. got it 👍

i will never have a gay as a friend bottom line. i also will never have a child of blood because i wouldnt want them to have schizophrenia. but if i was a child with two men as parents i realize in school id be critisized and tormented and have alot of unanswered questions. so myself i find nothing wrong with gay marriage but id say no too adoption.

this however is from someone that was a outcast and critisized in school
