Poll: What is the greatest evil in the world today?

i want to say abortion is the greatest evil, but i suppose rejecting Christ is always the greatest evil. That is the evil t hat leads to all others.

But that being said, what is the greatest evil ASIDE from that one?

Materialism and relativism. The attitude that it is all about me. I can go on and on.

Aside from the New York Yankees, I voted for Christians not standing up to evil in it’s forms.
 
I would say the socialism scares me pretty bad. and the fact that a small voice is heard louder then the majority!

For what it’s worth, that was my second choice and something that scares me to death.
 
I voted for Christian’s not standing against evil, but I would say the root of that is post-modernism, and relativism. Modern philosophy infected by Neitzcheism. Internet trolls.
 
For me, the greatest evil in the world today is a lack of charity (love). This can take several forms, including war, murder, theft, poverty, corporate greed, persecution of religion, religious intolerance, deterioration of the family, lack of civility, and so on.
 
I voted “other” because the greatest evil in the world today is the same as the greatest evil yesterday and tomorrow, and is the root of all the listed evils. Abortion is driven by its whims of pleasure; Socialism and Communism both are rooted in its utopian wishes; Christians do not stand up to evil because of it; the same are persecuted by those who are filled with it; atheism is its purest expression.

We are now and always will be in a great battle with Pride himself, the hunter and poacher of our souls. Pride is not merely a vice, it is a man. As love is not merely a state or action, but a selfless Being entire, so Pride is not merely a vice, but a lowly being rent asunder by its arrogance.
 
Socialism and Communism can be very evil, but not always. I voted for Christianity being demonized in the media and it certainly doesn’t help when we try to turn people to Christ, it is an uphill battle as it is when extremists are told to hate Christians in order to go to Heaven.
 
I voted for “christians not standing up to evil” simply because I believe it to be the CAUSE of most of the great evils in our society.

Very well said. I agree that pride is the first evil that leads to all other evils. I also voted ‘other’, because IMHO, among the greatest evils in the world mentioned above, there are a few more that lead people to fall into all of the other kinds of evil. A few of them are:
  1. not recognizing that pure evil *is *all around us
  2. blaming God for anything evil that happens in the world
  3. ignoring the source of all evil as if it didn’t exist at all
When we can’t seem to find the source of some evil that we see happening in the world, we tend to look for a scapegoat to blame it on. Too many I times, I’ve heard people blame God for it, when that couldn’t be farther from the truth. I believe all evil comes from within us, because too many of us refuse to believe that there really is such a thing as the devil and his minions, who try to influence us to do all kinds of evil things. That leaves us wide open to falling for his malicious lies and tricks.

I think if we recognized the true source of evil, then we would be less inclined to return evil to those who we choose to blame for any evil done to us. If we recognized the true source, we would be more inclined to fight it and eliminate it in ourselves, as soon as it reared it’s ugly head. If everyone did that instead of playing the ‘blame game’, I believe there would be a lot less evil in the world.
