To edit this poll to reflect some feedback, the reason the Eucharist is not on this poll is because there was a feature of discourse locking polls a few minutes after being created. No disrespect was meant to the Eucharist.
  • The Readings
  • The Gospel
  • The Petitions
  • The Consecration
  • The Entire Mass
  • Other (please specify)

Consecration because that is the supreme moment of the mass where the bread and wine turn into the body and blood of our lord Jesus Christ

The entire Eucharistic Prayer. Specially when the Roman Canon is used

Normally I do not choose which parts of the mass but the consecration is certainly the main event, was and always is for me.

Well, the Consecration should be everyone’s favorite part of the Mass. So the poll will be skewed. But besides that, mine would be the Last Gospel in the EF.

My favorite part is communion, receiving the Eucharist, the body and blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. What could be better than that?!

The part when the 60s-something-silver-haired cantor sings the responsorial psalm three octaves above what the average layman is capable of, and then she raises her hand for the response and 80% of the congregation sits motionlessly with vacant, ghostly expressions as they give a thousand mile stare into an abyss of nothingness.

It is so poetic and beautiful.

Receiving Communion would be the best, but sometimes it is the worst because I can’t receive and I worry about what other people think and then I become a big mess of self-love and pride.

Consecration. Transubstantiation. The Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. It is what makes our Catholic service different from all other Christian denominations. It is what makes the Catholic Church the true church of Jesus Christ.

Reception of the Most Holy Eucharist.

‘If angels could be jealous of Man, it would be for but one thing: Most Holy Communion’ - St. Maximilian Kolbe

The homily varies with the homilist, but if it’s a good one, then my bestest most favorite part is the homily.

So, excluding the variable homily…I would say the sign of peace.

When the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist enter the Sanctuary, then duck behind a pillar to emerge rubbing their hands together like Snidely Whiplash about to foreclose on the mortgage. The scent of gelled alcohol fills the church. I call it, The Hand Cleansing Rite.

All kidding aside–The period of Sacred Silence in which we would give thanks after receiving The Lord. We don’t get much of it 'round these parts anymore.

I was working on the Poll, and didn’t know that discourse doesn’t let you edit your poll after 5 minutes. A simple error that could not be fixed. The Eucharist is my favorite part of the mass, an error in discource did not allow me to reflect that.

For me, it’s the entire Mass. As we all know, the Mass is equally divided by two separate Liturgies: Word and Eucharist. Hearing the Word is as important, IMO, as receiving His body and blood. We need both liturgies to sustain us in our daily life. I cannot imagine going to Mass and just having the Liturgy of the Eucharist without hearing the Word that prepares us to open our hearts to and minds to receive His body and blood.

And lastly I will add the Closing Song and dream that everyone, including the clergy, will stay and sing to the end! LOL!

Thanks. Question: Why did you separate Readings and Gospel when the Gospel is part of the Readings? Also, to say the Entire Mass is not really polling which part.

Anyway, it was a good idea. Thanks for doing it.
