POLL: Who values looks more, guys or girls?

A point I want to add is that by “important” I mean very important. I should have made the poll clearer, but I didn’t think it through and now I can’t change it! Grr!

So when you vote, vote “yes” if they’re very important and “no” if they’re not important or slightly important (i.e. you wouldn’t be attracted to someone morbidly obese but otherwise it doesn’t matter).

Simple biological fact: The man’s brain is chemically wired to be attracted by looks more than the woman’s brain is attracted to looks.

As for selecting a spouse, you gotta keep in mind that looks change over time. If you’re fortunate enough to grow old with them until one of you dies, who the heck CARES how they look?

Every time I go out women always go for the hot looking guys.

P.S. If women don’t go for looks first, then what superficial thing do they go for? Wealth?
 
I asked my wife about this. She said I’m not allowed to go looking for a spouse since I already have the perfect one.

I would probably change my answer after seeing your addendum of “VERY important” instead of just “important” as you listed on the poll. It wouldn’t be a deal-breaker if a girl had a great personality, was Catholic, and loved children, but wasn’t as easy on the eyes as a supermodel.

True, to a certain extent. A male brain is “preprogrammed” to be attracted to looks that indicate fertility (e.g., wide hips, large breasts). So saying men are biologically attracted to the stick-figure supermodel is actually not backed up. Women, on the other hand, are “preprogrammed” to be attracted to the male who can best provide for her offspring.

I’ll try to find some studies, though it’s hard for me to believe that people get funding to study this stuff. 😉
 
back in 1972 it was her eyes that took a hold of me first… :eek:

it would be disingenuous for me to say i didn’t notice what the eyes were connected to… :cool:

what can i say, i was probably a typical young male with priorities not yet trained as they should have been… :rolleyes:

as luck would have it though, and with the assistance of the Stars above, she married me anyway… but nobodys perfect… :eek:

To answer the original question … ** Who values looks more, guys or girls?** … being a male, I originally thought that it was guys but after living with my two sister-in-laws for several months, I am now convinced that it’s the girls who value looks more.

Of course men care more about the look of a woman than woman care about men’s looks.

Men are visual and stimulated by the looks of women. Women are attracted to talk and touch.
Woman do their make up and are much more interested in looking good.
It’s like Pennsylvannia ducks but the opposite. The male ducks fill with vibrant colors in the spring while the lady ducks remain a plain brown color. It is the lady ducks seeking the male ducks. And traditionaly with men and woman…the men seek out the woman and the woman try to be beautiful.

We marry until death do us part. By 80 we all look alike anyway. 🙂
