By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR and TREVOR TOMPSON (AP) – 3 hours agoWASHINGTON — A name like Maria or Jose isn’t a solid clue anymore that the person who answers to it will worship in a Catholic church on Sunday.
I think Hispanic immigration is credited with keeping the Catholic Church, in the US, from shrinking. However, as Exoflare alludes, its been known for some time that the children of those immigrants tend to drift away from the Catholic Church at about the same rate as non-Hispanic Americans do.
So the influx of new members is good, but it doesn’t fix the long term problem of attrition.
