I had PCOS (before I had a hysterectomy for unrelated reasons) and I used NFP successfully. BUT, you’ve GOT to get your diet in check before you will have reliable signs. You need to be on a very low carb diet (under 100 grams of cars for sure, and even as low as 50), and especially avoid grains of any kind. Another poster mention a paleo/primal diet, that is your best bet and a great idea (consequently I’ve lost over 90 pounds with this way of eating).
Having the right FATS in your diet is unbelievably important!!! What I mean by the right fats is probably not what you think…I’m talking about good saturated fats, like coconut oil, palm oil, butter oil from good quality (grass fed) cream. Too much of vegetable oil, olive oil even, and definitely canola oil is going to reek havoc with your hormones and endocrine system.
A great website to look at is www.marksdailyapple.com
The book Fertility Cycles and Nutrition is very helpful as well.
