I know I posted about this before but I never got the answer that I needed. Is it a sin in the Catholic religion to be polyamorous in marriage? I’m talking open relationship where the husband has more then one spouse he’s sleeping with. Everywhere I Go TV, movies, media all I see is it promoting this lifestyle and I find it disgusting and sinful. I want an honest yes or no answer and I want it backed by Bible verses.

Blessings,
Polygamy is in Old Testament. They are tribal rules and maybe a necessity w population low.
Look up marriage feast of Cana. One husband and one wife. Marriage blessed. Look up adultery. It is a NONO. The 6 th commandment in Exodus. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Eighth and ninth Commandments- Thou shalt not covet your neighbors wife(adultary). Or covet neighbors goods.
Google those topics and sites will be given for you to copy down.
God bless you.
You are a treasure. You are not a sex toy. We aren’t
To watch movies x G and PG ratings. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for promiscuous behavior.
BADABA DO… THATS ALL FOLKS!!
In Christ’s love

Catechism
2387 The predicament of a man who, desiring to convert to the Gospel, is obliged to repudiate one or more wives with whom he has shared years of conjugal life, is understandable. However polygamy is not in accord with the moral law." [Conjugal] communion is radically contradicted by polygamy; this, in fact, directly negates the plan of God which was revealed from the beginning, because it is contrary to the equal personal dignity of men and women who in matrimony give themselves with a love that is total and therefore unique and exclusive."179 The Christian who has previously lived in polygamy has a grave duty in justice to honor the obligations contracted in regard to his former wives and his children.

You do have a Bible, don’t you? And/or the ability to search on the internet?
In Matthew 19:4-5, does Jesus say “wives,” or “wife?”

(And if you’re seeing polygamy promoted “everywhere you go,” you really should change your routine. The only time I see anything about it is when I’m checking the cable channel guide and one of the “sister wives” programs shows up. Which I then proceed NOT to watch.)

I am not sure why this is unclear. The answer is yes. Polygamy is grave matter against the sixth commandment.

I have no idea where you are seeing this “everywhere” you go. I’ve certainly seen a few TV shows on the topic, on cable, glamorizing Mormon marriage, but other than that… not so much.

Before Jesus Christ, life and Family in the bible are polygamy, men do as they like and maybe women too marry as they want, do not forget the case of lot’s two daughter, they also slept with their father after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. But Jesus made it known in the new testaments that those things are sinful that marriage is the union between a man and a woman, An Adam and An Eve, not Adams and not Eves. But in my own opinion, there are many things we do not understand about God which will be clear to us all if we happen to meet him face to face, not even the Priest can explain many of them. But what matters is to have a Good heart, help the poor, love one another and live peacefully. There are 10 commandment summary written down, marriage was not spoken about there but the truth is one wife, one husband is peaceful and easy to deal with compared to with many. The many the are, the much your problem and ease to sin

I have wondered this myself. It is not explicitly stated in the bible, just church tradition. I think there are some jews trying to say they can have multiple wives or something, I read about recently.

@ Sheeniac, it is true but that is just a verse out of many verses. you know sometime i use to wonder if God in the old testament is different from the new testament and if He made mistake in the old testament now correcting in the New testament, because in the Old testament all these happened. This is one of the reason why other religion and free thinkers attack us because there is no clear conviction to many of this faith controversy

No it’s not. It’s quite rare. The only people who attack Christianity over polygamy are those who think with what’s in their pants instead of their brains.
