What resources are there explaining why the Church and most of Christianity as a whole does not allow polygamy? What Biblical defense is there for monogamy?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that the unity of marriage is made clear in the equal personal dignity accorded to the man and wife in mutual and unreserved affection. Polygamy is contrary to conjugal love which is undivided and exclusive (1645).

Basically, how can a marriage be equal, mutual, and unreserved between a man and wife if the man divides his love amongst multiple partners?
