Sister Amy, Can i ask you a question? Forgive me if this was asked i havent been on for quite a few days, But do you go by the bible at all in your religion? What i mean is are the teachings Of Christ taught. And who is your God? Is it the God of Abraham.

No, Muslims don’t go by the Bible–Muslims didn’t even have the Bible at the time of Muhammad. They use the Qur’an and teachings of Muhammad as sources of law. The teachings of Jesus and other prophets are included only to the extent which appears in the Qur’an and/or narrations from Muhammad.

There is only one God–the Creator. The God to Whom Muslims submit is the God of Abraham–of Isaac and Ishmael and Jacob and the Tribes.

Oh okay. So we do believe in the same God, its just that you dont believe that Jesus is also God making himself man. Is that correct. We also dont really go by the bible. Now im not saying we dont live by the words of the bible, and believe in them, its just we are taught that we must be taught the word of God. That is why God left us the Church. Sister Amy what is the difference between your religion and the Jewish faith. If you dont mind me asking. Is there alot that is the same or is it totally different. Or do you not know.

How can it be a “mortal sin” if it was practiced by Jacob (the son of Isaac), for example? What does the church teach about the plural marriages of Biblical figures?

They basically ignore them…

From what I’ve heard was it was either a temporary thing because wars had decimated the men so widows were left alone and couldn’t be supported. I’ve also heard God allowed them to because of their hard hearts but Christ set the record straight.

That is correct.

Some people find Islam to be very close to orthodox Judaism in particular. The difference is that Muslims accept Jesus as a messenger, and Muhammad as a messenger, believe in the Gospel (revealed to Jesus) and the Qur’an (revealed to Muhammad.) The Jews do not believe these things.

Muslims also believe that Muhammad was the final messenger, and sent to all mankind (not just Jews or Arabs.)

There are plenty of minor differences in beliefs and styles of worship, but this is the major thing.

I understand and thankyou for answering me. My dad told me that, also that we do believe in the same God its just we had more things (can i say without being disrespectful) revealed to us. I am sure if i was in another country and wasnt taught the OT and the NT i wouldnt know either. Again thankyou and have a wonderful day.
