Pontifical Mass at Saint Nicholas (Paris) - Epiphany

H.E. Mons. Bernard Fellay, of the SSPX, celebrated a Pontifical Mass on January the 10th at St. Nicholas du Chardonnet, Paris. At laportlatine.org, the official website of the District of France, the following video contains the sermon of Bishop Fellay, plus a video of the Mass in the background.

It is well worth seeing even if you don’t understand French. The sermon was really really great, but the video is also amazing. In my opinion, one of the best Trad videos ever produced.

Notice also the two Franciscans of the Immaculate in the choir.

A remarkable evangelical sermon, delivered in Mgr Fellay’s superb Swiss French - a delight to hear. He tells us that, before the time of John XXIII, the Epiphany was regarded as a greater feast than Christmas, because it was the proclamation of Jesus Christ to the whole world. He tells us that the word Epiphany is Greek for ‘manifestation’ [showing forth], and he links this manifestation of Christ directly to His first miracle at Cana of Galilee. At the Epiphany, Christ the Child is shown forth to the world; at Cana, Christ Himself reveals His Divinity to all mankind.

Monseigneur continues his sermon by explaining the gifts of the Magi, and the significance of each. His splendid French cadences give an added thrill to the substance of his preaching. By the time the sermon ends, Bishop Fellay has linked the Feast of the Epiphany to the whole economy of Salvation. It is a superb effort by a superb preacher. I hope this little summary will help those who don’t know French.
