I had a priest once, a very great priest whom i love very much as my spiritual father (he actually helped me become Catholic again after converting to islam ( ), and one of his Masses was devoted to all the different parts of the Mass and how its an active conversation with God. it was phenomenal.

i think that the Church needs to jump on the ball and make sure that the Mass is something thats welcoming and not overwhelming, they need to explain why we do what we do or why we say what we say at Mass and why we do it when we do it at the different parts. the significance of standing and kneeling, the whole nine yards. i think it will be a very rich experience and make the Mass come alive!

maybe we should start a petition letter going to our parishes and send another letter to the dioceses in our states stating our concern? definitely think its a group effort! anybody interested and want to join together for the cause?? id love to be a part! 😃

haha i got so wrapped up in my previous thought that i forgot to mention that everything should be interactive with everything else. like make things that will really involve people, like a buddy system or a family buddy system…like hosting pot-luck dinners for each other or something and have them trade off once a month (like those speed-dating things lol we can “date” other families and get to know them:)) or even apply the buddy system idea (by families volunteering to sponsor a catechist) with the pot-luck dinner idea so that they have people who want to get more involved with them and their spiritual well-being and give them the support they need along the way.
ive been going to my parish for years and i love it and the people are nice but i dont know how much comraderie there is, ya know? i mean we have parish activities but maybe if they did do something related to Mass that was either immediately before or after Mass. and they should keep things creative and build on it. i think its hard because everyones life is so hectic! (seems like new england is just a non-stop-get-out-of-my-way-NOW kinda place…quite strenuous comparatively to other places!)

This is a shame. However, you can’t blame the Church for not catechizing these women properly. Afterall, they can read the Catechism and there are tons of books out there.

At the end of the day, they had to read about Islam. Why couldn’t they read about their Catholic faith? If I don’t understand something about Catholicism, I read the Catechism or a Papal Encyclical.

Mature people should be able to teach themselves.

Furthermore, why didn’t they watch EWTN or listen to Catholic Answers? The information was there for them. With maturity comes resposibility; they have the responsibilty to teach themselves.
