Poor catechization?

Is the pulpit the proper venue for such a frank discussion? We shield our children from these things in the world; what is the point, if we are just going to figuratively take all of our clothes off in Church?
Agreed, but preaching does not have to come directly from the pulpit. Certainly our older kids should be properly catechized on these subjects.

I teach a 7th & 8th grade Catechism class. Fortunately this year, I have only boys, so its a lot easier (at least for me) to speak to them frankly about issues of sexual morality than it would be if I had a mixed class. It’s still a tough discussion, though, but they have been surprisingly mature.

You make a good point.
However if NOT the pulpit, the message is very unlikely to get out:o
