According to the Ordo ('62 rubrics), the Indulgentia Portiunculae is observed from noon August 1st (First Friday) until midnight August 2nd, during which time a Plenary Indulgence may be gained for the benefit of the Poor Souls in Purgatory under the usual conditions (Mass, Confession, Holy Communion within the octave) with the addition of the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be said 6 times each, preferably in churches and oratories of the Friars Minor, Capuchins, their tertiaries, or in their absense, in any Roman Catholic church. (Sacrae Paenitentiariae Apostolicae, 1 Maii 1939). One indulgence per day is attainable.

The Ordinary may transfer the Indulgentia to the next Sunday.

I don’t know why, but I’ve been praying for the Holy Souls a lot lately; I’ve even offered my Mass intentions to them. I rarely ever pray for the Holy Souls apart from in November, but this is something that has changed recently.

One of the duties we, as the Church Militant, have is to pray for the souls in purgatory, the Church Suffering. PLEASE - do so daily. The goal for all of us is to be part of the Church Triumphant, the saints in heaven.
