Poorly timed illness

My best friend and I need prayers for health, specifically that we will be better by Sunday. I joined the choir at my Parish and had my first practice this week. I am supposed to sing in the choir for the first time this coming Sunday. I am one of two men in the choir, and the only one singing the bass line. However, my best friend and I both came down with some nasty cold or flu yesterday. He is also my ride to mass. I hope that I don’t come across as too selfish with all of this, but I would really like for us both to feel better by Sunday.

This would also be our first time missing Sunday mass since we decided to join the Catholic church back in November. I know that it is excusable for illness, but I also know that the week will feel more empty without starting out with the excellent homily our priest always gives as well as being in the presence of the Eucharist. We can’t take the Eucharist yet (waiting for first confession and such) but we enjoy being in the presence. If we have to miss this Sunday, we will make a trip to visit the Eucharist adoration chapel at another local parish as soon as we are both healthy.

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal new calling and friend. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into new calling and friend’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Thank you for the prayers. I am feeling a lot better, but my best friend, Joseph, is still quite sick. Continued prayers for him are appreciated.
