The Pope hit out at Iran as he pledged to help world Jewish leaders in their fight against anti-Semitism. **Pope Benedict XVI told leaders of the World Jewish Congress that Iran was “an issue of big concern” to him. **

At a meeting at the Vatican, the Pope spoke of his concern about rising anti-Semitism and described how **he wanted to use educational tools to counter the hatred of the Iranian leadership **towards the Jewish people and Israel.

No bias in that headline.

Or perhaps more remarkable, this had to have passed through several people before going online. No adult supervision?

Does he remember there are Christians (with Catholics among them) in Iran?

The pope’s “attack” on Iran is nothing compared to the many attacks Islamic fundamentalists (which many of those with power in Iran are) have committed across the world for decades.

Not sure what your concern is, but I am sure that the Pope knows about the religious composition of Iran . . . no doubt a factor in his selection of education as his weapon of choice.

Hmmm … Catholics living on Earth are called “The Church Militant” and St. Padre Pio referred to the Rosary as his “weapon” and I’m known here at CAF as a “Prayer Warrior” … Hey, I’m all in favor of the Pope winning a spiritual battle against hate. 🙂 👍

Our Pope is such a wonderful Pope. I fully back him on his statements!

My concern quite simply is the Holy Father’s words may influence Iran’s Mullahs to turn on the Christian population there, or at least target them for conversion.

So . . . what exactly did the Pope say that would make the ayatollahs do something so rash? 🤷

Simply his admitted support for Israel…
The Vatican officially recognizes Israel and established diplomatic relations over a decade ago.

Are you proposing that Pope Benedict pretend otherwise in the hope that the ayatollahs will forget those facts?

Or is “his support” of education against anti-Semitism so over-the-top that you think the ayatollahs will institute a pogrom against Christians and Jews in Iran?

Many countries have diplomatic relations with Israel, including the Vatican, and I’m sure that fact hasn’t been lost on the Iranian government or the ayatollahs.

But I think the authorities in Iran could institute a program against Christians there, particularly if they aren’t in open opposition to Israel and the US.

And oddly enough, Iranian Jews appear to be in public opposition to Israel, and its concievable Christians there could also adopt a similar stance in order to save themselves. Terribly unjustified as it all is.

Interesting I suppose, but off point.

How do you propose the Pope modify his message to appease the ayatollahs?

It would appear the message from him has been delivered, being that I lack the keys to the kindom nor the savior himself I’m in no position to recant it.

The ayatollahs will make of it what they will, for good or ill, for the Iranian Christian community. And for whatever percetion they will have of this Pope going forward, whatever that happens to be.
