The following quote is from Pope Benedict’s book “Jesus of Nazareth:” When someone buys into evolution, says the Pope, “the ‘dragon’ really has won.”

In some of his writings and speeches, the Holy Father has stated his thoughts on evolution. He exclaims that Catholics can accept the theory of(for lack of a better word) Theistic evolution, e.g., God infused a soul into existing beings(Adam and Eve), and they became the first human beings.

My question is: Doesn’t the Holy Father’s statement(as in his book) on evolution contradict his and the Church’s opinion on evolution?

Please comment and advise. Thanks.

It would be good to see the comment in its context. can you give us the entire paragraph?

I googled:
Benedict dragon evolution “Jesus of Nazareth”
and came up with a rather odd Spirit Daily webpage with the headline
Pope Declares Revelation ‘Dragon’ be be Force of Military-Political Domination
The article includes this line:
When someone buys into evolution, says the Pope, “the ‘dragon’ really has won.”
but it appears that the words “when someone buys into evolution” are not the words of Pope Benedict, but the words of whoever wrote the article.

SueKrum has a good idea. I, too, would like to see the entire paragraph from Jesus of Nazareth so we can consider the context of the quote.
