Pope Benedict XVIs job?

I would like to know your opinion on the job that Pope Benedict XVI has done as Pope. In no way do I want to start an argument nor for ppl to be offended by my post. This is just a sincere post asking my Catholic Brothers as well as our Protestants brothers to give their (name removed by moderator)ut into the way they see Pope Benedict.

I know during the conclaves and news organizations were talking strong candidates to succeed the late Pope John Paul II. I remember hearing reporters say that Pope Benedict, was an “enforcer”, others even said that he was a “pitbull”. Their second point was that whomever was elected Pope, would face a tough challenge to fill Pope John Paul’s shoes.

In April, God willing, Pope Benedict will celebrate 8 yrs in the papacy. I know that I will sound bias and as a homer, but I think the Holy Father has done a superb job as Pope. He has a been a man of reason, he has shown humility, his love for the Church is so great that at age 85 he’s still working hard to evangelize the world. One of my fondest memories so far of his holiness, was when he went to Mexico. I remember how a person from the crowd gave him a mariachi hat while he was in the pope mobile. Pope Benedict took the hat and put it on.

My grade for him is an A++, may God give strength and health so that Pope Benedict can be with us, and continue giving his love to the world

A++ here too. He’ll be declared a saint someday.
 
I agree, Benedict XVI has done a superb job.

He is amazing. God has blessed us with a truly great pope in Benedict XVl.

Everything about him, his fantastic theological mind, his humility, his work ethic (so many thousands of miles travelled at his age), his moral strength in upholding doctrine, his kindness, humour and gentleness. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. 😉

I will be heart-broken when God choses to take him home to be in His sight but glad that he will, God willing, rest in peace after a job well done.

 
I, too, think very highly of him. I do wish he would be more aggressive in pursuing the liturgical reform of the reform. But considering the state of the church when he was elected, well he’s done a great job. 👍
 
His Holiness is an awesome pastor! The liberation of the TLM and the creation of the Ordinariates for Anglicans will be the hallmark of his papacy.
 
It is absolutely great, that Pope Benedict XVI. inaugurated Bishop Erhard Ludwig Müller as head and leader of the
Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the Vatican.
Of course all modernists - most of all Hans Küng

protested, and called this call of Arch-Bishop Müller (born 1947) “a catastrophe for the Church”. But all righteous Catholics are thankful, that there is a fighter for the truth who doesn’t give a iota way to modernist distortion and falsification
of Jesus’ doctrine. Just as before Benedict XV. did, when he was under Pope JP2 head of the Congregation for the Doctrine.
Let’s thank the Holy Spirit, that God seems to set an End to dilution of belief within His Church. Thank you dear God for this great Pope, who walks strongly Your way, undeterred of modernist streams.
We where and are ever so luckey with the two popes JP2 and Benedict XVI. A shame Benedict is so old. Though still fighting strongly for Jesus’ truth. Great that he was the spiritual adviser of Pope John-Paul II. and absolutely great, that Benedict made the thanks heavens “ever so conservative" Gerhard Ludwig Müller head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (Congregatio pro doctrina fidei)

and that of course caused a storm of protests even by Catholics of the modernist line, who angrily wrote Müller is much too conservative and a step backwards into medieval ages.
The opposite is true. Mueller will bind the Catholics belief tighter to God’s truth, which never can be a matter of modern arbitrariness.
Too many, even Catholics, tend to see belief as kind of secular, human code of honor of how to behave, and leave the absolute existence and truth of God as just an option that “just MIGHT be true”. Therefore we need a strong Church, a saintly Pope and an absolute convinced and strong Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith: Congregatio pro Doctrina Fidei.

We also must replace any kind of national thinking with but one difference= Belief and disbelieve. That’s all that counts before God.
Of course the world fights Pope Benedict’s decision, for Müller is an absolute conservative believer, who puts belief and Jesus’ doctrine above all. Modernism is in demand. A modernism, who puts religion far behind secularism. Otherwise the world feels left behind - though the world is invited to stand on Jesus’ side, as Jesus had saved the world. But the world refuses her Father. Indeed a prodigal son.

I think Pope Benedict would be the first to say Pope John Paul II was a hard act to follow. The latter was a hugely—unprecedentedly—charismatic pope and an important player in the end of communism. And that’s not even mentioning the sheer length of his pontificate, and the energy that characterized it, especially early on. They are like two statues. Both may be finely crafted but Pope John Paul’s is 30 feet tall.

To brass tacks, however, I think Benedict’s papacy will go down as a sort of “second term” for Pope John Paul, but without the charisma and sure footedness that made Pope John Paul such a success—Martin Van Buren to Pope John Paul’s Andrew Jackson. I suspect he will be remembered for an unexpectedly pastoral style, but also for the “Regensburg lecture,” which was a sad and completely unnecessary blunder.

You can says it’s biased or whatever. Won’t surprise me. You guys stuck your head in the sand about the whole thing anyways.
 
I believe Benedict XVI will be known as one of the great intellectual Popes. I do not compare him to John Paul II, as there really isn’t any reason to.
