He seems a very shy, reserved man. I attribute this to his academic nature. He is no extrovert, but that’s quite okay.
 
He looks very tired, but I think he always looks so kind and humble. Lets face it hes very busy for his age. I imagine the holidays are even more busier for him.
 
Having seen him in public twice at the Sunday Angelus (2005 at Castel Gandolfo, and 2009 at St. Peter’s) I can say that he is a very soft spoken man with a very gentle and warm manner of speaking.

I was saddened to note though, that in 2009 he seemed visibly and audibly more tired than in 2005. Given his age and the burden of his office, I guess that’s not so surprising. My prayers are with him.

I have also read that most who have met him in person (as opposed to how the media portrays him), were surprised to find how he is so courteous and warm in person, putting to rest the image of a “Rottweiler” that the media depicts him as.

If ever the popular media has done a sham job of reporting on a public figure, their reporting on the Pope has got to be close to the lowest they’ve ever stooped.

He is definitely not as extroverted as his predecessor, but I think we can safely assume that the Church is in good hands, being led by such a brilliant theologian who is mindful of the Tradition of which he is the custodian.

Ask yourself who is taking pictures of him and who is deciding which pictures to publish. It is the nature of the media to show flattering, happy pictures of those of whom they approve and also the reverse. Most media outlets are in opposition to the pope, so we can expect a lot of negative pictures of him. They reveal nothing about his actual personality.
 
He never looks angry to me. He’s not an extrovert like Bl. John Paul II. He’s kind of reserved but he’s a gentle and warm man. He has been looking a little weary and more contemplative lately. But given his position and his age, that’s not a surprise. I can barely imagine what kind of things he has to deal with on a day-to-day basis.

Pray for our Holy Father.
 
I think he has a wonderful, genuine smile that lights up a room, the way my dear grandfather’s smile did.
 
I’ve often wondered if he has arthritis of the neck. He seems to sit and move like he does. It can cause people to have to move their eyes back and forth a lot (instead of twisting the head around to see things), plus it just gives a stiffer demeanor overall. But every time he opens his mouth I’m struck by his sweet, soft-spoken voice and his gentleness.
 
I agree that he’s likely tired. I mean, he’s an eighty-four year old man who is responsible for the spiritual well-being of over a billion people! Also, recall that fifteen years ago (1997), he had wanted to retire. I guess the Holy Spirit had other plans for him.

Indeed, he’s constantly on guard against modernism, liberalism, heresy, ready to strike when he sees it! :knight2::knight1::onpatrol::nunchuk:
 
I believe that he is a kind loving soul. perhaps he is just tired i guess. Its probably because he has one of the most busy and stressful jobs ever… shepherding over 1.2 billion Christians worldwide:D
 
When I was young, I was taught not to judge others according to how they look. Jesus too had no comely bearing and was one from whom men turn their faces.
