i am saying jesus does not care what church you belong too.
As long as you believe in him, have faith and trust in his word, it does not matter.
What is your opinion of the Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Scientists, Moonies, Jim Jones’ Cult, 7th Day Adventists, and all other non- and barely- Christian sects?

Is it your opinion that Jesus doesn’t care that people get suckered into these heresies?

Anyway, would you care to answer this question? I’m really interested in an answer from a member of the “one true Church” since we non-Catholics do not possess the full truth. You will kneel before our Lord one day and give an account. So I’m just curious how you’ll answer.

Mat 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Mat 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Why woulod I worry about answering a question I know will ever be asked. He has already given us his Church to guide us so we dont have to worry about playing 20 questions when we face judgement

AMEN! I agree with you 100% that there are fantastic people leading very holy churches (some actually belong to this forum, praise be to God) and I truly believe they have something to teach us all. I just don’t think we have to degrade the RCC in order to say that.
The Church agrees that all christian denominations have a piece of the truth BUT having part of the truth and havng fantastic people miselading their congregations does not a Church make

If you were asked by God… Why should I let you into Heaven, how would you answer?
We’re of course assuming that would even be asked; reading the various Judgment passages in the Bible, this notion seems to be unbiblical. Where did you get this stuff?

to each there own. If they believe in those religions, that is between them and jesus. it does not concern us.i only have to answer for myself. And that is plenty.

You made the following statement:

"“i am saying jesus does not care what church you belong too.
As long as you believe in him, have faith and trust in his word, it does not matter.”"

The question was: Do you think Jesus cares?

If not, why not? You must have some way of knowing what Jesus cares about, and I’m curious to know what that way is.

I have not noticed you addressing the various cults and sects that pretend to be Christian.

Does Jesus care whether people are led astray by false teachings?

Once again, the media twists what was actually said (and written) to suit themselves.

The Catholic Church possesses the Full Truth. Gee. How hard can that be?
On the whole it does not bother Protestants for Catholics to assert this. On the contrary, in some cases they find RCC claims rather amusing (if they think about them at all). Most Protestants rarely mention Catholicsm and when they do it is not from the pulpit (in my expereince) but in Bible studies where they point out errors (from their point of view) in RCC thinking in terms of scripture.

I mean no disrespect but I have seen the sort of amusement that you have at a child making funny assertions. What used to annoy me and my wife was the smugness of it occassionally and the fact that they were misrepresenting Catholic beliefs by not fully presenting RCC argumentation for them. This then led people to the concluision that these beliefs were easily pushed aside.

yes, i believe jesus does care
I agree. I’m pretty sure Jesus cares deeply that people are drawn away from “our” Church by means of their itchy ears, listening to erroneous teachings from teachers of error. So, we agree that what you said earlier, and I quote:

"“i am saying jesus does not care what church you belong too.
As long as you believe in him, have faith and trust in his word, it does not matter.”"

is not quite right. Because, it is one thing for you to be a Protestant. It is entirely another for you to be a Mormon. A Protestant may yet be a good Christian, but a Mormon or Jehovah’s Witness who actually believes the teachings of these sects, probably is not.
but as paul said, not all are chosen.
Where does Paul say this? I’d like to read the entire context of Paul’s saying on this matter.

It appears to me that you’re suggesting that people who are suckered into joining the non- and quasi-Christian sects and cults find themselves there because “not all are chosen.”

Could you elaborate on this for us, please?

i am a catholic.I was baptized a catholic, That does not mean, i must believe every word or action our chuch stands for. Should i be happy with all the people we killed in gods name? god has given me free wiil you use. many things our church has done in the past and present are not very christian like. becauce i question these things, That makesme a bad catholic? i think not.
Hi
I appreciate you viewpoint.
Thanks

If you were asked by God… Why should I let you into Heaven, how would you answer?
You’ll need to put some thought into this:

“None but the Lamb is worthy to be slain!”

And in the same line:

“Well done good and faithful servant.”

Implies some work was accomplished (done).

Call yourself whatever you want, but if you want to be Catholic you will need to submit to the authority of the Church. It’s very simple.
Hi
I love Catholics for their courtesy and open mindedness.
I don’t agree with your view point.

First: It is too restrictive.
Second: It creates hatred towards other denominations, and hence unity.
Third: It hampers free will and free thinking.

I do agree that within the church members, there should be no politics and revolt/conspiracy against the head of the church. It is a matter of pride for the Catholics that they have a systems that is working for centuries.

One could differ with the Head of the church in a respectful manner without harming the system, and it should be acceptable to the head also. It is GodAllahYHWH only who is infallible, none else.
Thanks

It is not the “Jesus cares” which church you belong to, it is that the teachings and sacraments of the Catholic Church have the fullest truth of any church, and therefore impart the greatest saving grace.

All things come from grace.

Which leads into free will.

Which leads into the salvation of others outside the Catholic Church.

If Catholicism is not for you that is fine. Step out of line and join the protestants.
Hi
I think he/she has not done any open revolt against the church or damaged it, she is only giving her opinion and differing with other’s opinion that is her right. If, she finds peace in Catholicism why she should be deprived from this peace, and suggested to go elsewhere.
Thanks

i believe in many things our church stands for, but at the same time i disagree with somethings too. I do not like saying we are the only true church. Are you saying the eastern churchs are not the true church also? They can prove a line of succession back to the apostles. That sounds very arrogant to me.I have problems with making mary a main pillar of our church, I also resent the fact of all the money our church has, yet i do not see it helping the poor. I believe in our pope, and sacrements etc.
When you mention the Eastern Churches, you must realize that, for many in them, they appear to have… consented… to the existence of the other. That makes that argument less valid.

Hi
You have a balanced approach, I agree with you.
Thanks

Professing to be Catholic requires that you place Church teaching above your personal opinions. When you choose to “disagree” with the Church (which is different than saying you "dont understand why they teach X or Y) your are choosing to be practicing something other than Catholicism. It never ceases to amaze me how many people who claim to be Catholic simply reject what the Church teaches out of personal preference and then wish to still be called Catholic. Call yourself whatever you want, but if you want to be Catholic you will need to submit to the authority of the Church. It’s very simple.
You can disagree with anything which is not doctrine, but your protest should be made to the authorities. It is not scandal to seek answers here. It could be scandal to pass non-Catholic dogma off as Catholic, which you may do by not submitting obediently to the Church. It is therefor necessary that if you do present such opinions that you also understand the Church, and thus can describe both. This becomes a fully evolved opinion of dissent. Many times, the most valid of these only appears to be contrary to some Church teaching, while it is, in fact, displaying what I could call, the other side of “the Way.”

Here is an ancient defense against praying to Mary for instance. It is at the same time a defense for praying to her:

"Hermas

“[The Shepherd said:] ‘But those who are weak and slothful in prayer, hesitate to ask anything from the Lord; but the Lord is full of compassion, and gives without fail to all who ask him. But you, [Hermas,] having been strengthened by the holy angel [you saw], and having obtained from him such intercession, and not being slothful, why do not you ask of the Lord understanding, and receive it from him?’” (The Shepherd 3:5:4 [A.D. 80]). Ravyn_Guiliani,

That makes sense to me. thanks for that article. I could not believe our church could be that egotist.

Thanks.
lavazza,

The assertions by the Church was essentially that the Eastern Church is very nearly the same as the Catholic Church with a few differences, that outsiders especially, would see as minor. Often, even, to see the Holy Father, as having the “honorary” position of the “First” See. What is under debate is what honorary means and how it can be… demonstrated by the Eastern Churches.

On the other hand, there are many many protestant churches. They do not even have all of the sacraments, and some, like marriage, don’t appear to be the same at all. In protestant marriage, the bond itself apparently means nothing if it is challenged, which, I believe the Church honors by simply granting annulment to any who challenge it. The Church on the other hand defends it if it is upheld. Catholic marriage, properly celebrated is permanent.

So, because of this, and other issues, like Mary and the Saints, these communities don’t resemble any of the Churches founded by the Apostles. Thus, another term had to be used to describe them.

Many don’t realize how vast the deposit of faith is, though it was always there from the beginning, and that often their questions are… impossible to answer completely. It ends up being a continuous leading of people down the path of Truth were both parties must venture.

If they resist at any point, then, there is need of either some additional work on the deposit, or more research into what is there.

I think, often, that the various founders didn’t realize certain things existed, or that they were always part of the religion.

Other times, they flatly rejected the assertion that they were, thus jettisoning large pieces of the fruit of the old Church.
