This is more of a “heads up” rather than an actual news story. I was just sent a video from member of a Protestant end-times site I frequent. In it, the person has videotaped perhaps 5 minutes of the Pope’s homily, reaching its climax where the Pope mentions “The Failure of the Cross”. At this point the person starts laughing mockingly, intending this clip to show how un-Christian these Catholics are.
The person who sent me the clip wanted to know what the Pope was trying to say here. Apparently, this video is going viral, simply because Protestants view the Cross (the empty cross) as a sign of triumph, of Jesus having conquered death and sin. I pointed out to her Philippians 2:5-8, where Christ “…humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross!” The “failure of the Cross” is how the WORLD views the cross. We must always look beyond what the WORLD is saying, and focus on what Christ, through Scripture, is saying.
Anyway, wanted to give everyone a heads up in case you start running into blowback from your Protestant friends.
