Pretty bad, infection one of the networks said.

Prayers for Emeritus Pope Benedict.

The loss of his brother … Who knows it may have brought him a little downwards.
He is human and quite an extraordinary person.
Hope he regains some strength and above all ,be as peaceful as he needs be.

There is a report that says that His Holiness has already chosen a burial place (former tomb of St. JP2).

Holy Mary please intercede!

The USCCB posted in the comments on their Facebook today that Pope Emeritus Benedict’s health is not any worse than you would expect for a 93-year-old with a case of shingles, which is something that a lot of elderly people get.

When you are that old, your life is pretty much at risk every day. I’m sure the stress of his brother’s passing takes a toll.

I will continue to pray for him. I pray daily for a secret special intention for him and I hope the Lord grants my prayer.

I understand that before St. JP2 occupied that spot, it was previously occupied by St. John XXIII, who had been moved out of it due to beatification before St. JP2 died. So it would seem to have quite an illustrious history.

I’ve had shingles. They are very uncomfortable. Nasty stuff. I hope he was able to get the anti-viral medicine. That helps.

From what I understand, all Bishops make out their will including place of burial. As Pope, I’m sure BXVI had already chosen his place of rest some time ago as has Pope Francis. Tempus fugit momento mori

It is actually a bacterial infection, facial erysipelas, and not the varicella virus.
