Pope Francis a Marxist?

I pay little attention to the prognostications of far right wing “news” sources like this one. They tend to be conspiracy theory driven rather than news and most of the time such sites are anti-Francis and anti-Catholicism anyway.

And no the Pope is not a Marxist. I believe communist thought has been outlawed by the church for a long time under penalty of excommunication.

They say this because Pope Francis preaches against selfishness.
I can see how one can be a libertarian and stand with Pope Francis in standing against selfishness. Magnanimity is a virtue.

A piece from the ‘American thinker’. I don’t mean to turn this too political, but I find the US such an interesting place when it comes to Christianity. It looks to me as though our Catholic religion cannot fit comfortably into either of the two main parties.

The Democratic views on finance and helping those in need, appear to be much closer what Jesus taught, but some of their other social views are awful and the complete opposite of Catholic teaching, and they’ve never really been pro-Catholic or pro-Christian (as far as I know).

This leaves us with the Republicans, who when it comes to financial matters, have a much less empathetic policy, basically along the lines of, you’re in this by yourself, if you’re struggling, that’s too bad, you need to just pull yourself up by your bootstraps etc. However, they embrace Christianity, or at least appear to, hence get a lot of the Christian vote.

I really would not know who to vote for if I was an American. I couldn’t morally vote for a party wishing to create laws allowing abortion, very pro gay marriage, pro trans agenda etc. Then again, a Republican party who doesn’t practice what they preach, and is made up of many protestants who aren’t fans of the Vatican and despise the current Pope, is far from ideal either.

The extremists on both poles aren’t capable of understanding the new way of solidarity. Pope Francis understands this ‘way’ and we are on the good path.

Well in the US, Catholics are basically split 50/50 on both parties.

Pope Francis, kind of weird. He won’t change doctrine and can’t change doctrine, but his opinions are kind of odd.

Who cares what those say who do not know whereof they speak? Where facts are few, opinions are many.

Rather, listen to Fr. Robert Spitzer PhD, physicist, founder of the Magis Center and student expert on the Shroud of Turin, speak to the Holy Fathers Jesuit Hermeneutic.

It also depends on ethnicity too. Many Hispanic and black Catholics tend to vote for democrats. White Catholics tend to vote republican. The Democratic Party is very very radical now. The Democratic Party is full of atheists.

I think the so-called ‘thinkers’ at American Thinker will have to re-think this one.

The Pope is not a political leader, he is the head of the Catholic Church on earth, a Religious Leader. It’s not right to try & fit our Holy Father Pope Francis into an American political group. Jesus said that his Kingdom is not of this world. Religion should stay out of politics & vice versa

Please define:
  1. Solidarity
  2. “ . . . the new way of solidarity.”

Exactly. I would argue this shows that they really don’t know who to vote for.
So your solution for the American Catholic is to find a country that is better than the US?

What should be remembered is that the only priest to serve for any time in Congress was a liberal Democrat.

Further, Republicans blocked the naming of any Catholic as chaplain of the House of Representatives. The first Catholic chaplain was not named until 2000.
