Good one 👍

The reason love is greatest, is because faith and hope go away. They aren’t needed in heaven. Love however, is all that is left. It endures forever
Without true faith one cannot have true love.

So how are you justified? By faith in Jesus alone or by the infusion of His righteousness over a lifetime now and in purgatory done by grace produced works?
Your mistake is making this an either/or proposition. That is not the Catholic view. 😉

True, And
  • as Jesus said, one who loves me keeps my commandments. John 14:15
  • as Blessed Mary His mother says, do WHATEVER He tells you to do John 2:5
  • as Pope Francis said, it is not possible to find Jesus outside the Church. The great Paul VI said: “Wanting to live with Jesus without the Church, following Jesus outside of the Church, loving Jesus without the Church is an absurd dichotomy.” http://www.news.va/en/news/pope-mass-on-feast-of-st-george-full-text
The Church the popes are talking about is obviously the only Church Jesus established and gave all His promises to, … The Catholic Church. #[34 (http://forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=11997086&postcount=34)

What “assurance” do I have what a RC believes? Can you cite what you believe how one is made right with God in your own words and how it differs from what I wrote?

And I will say when the pope speaks of a church he is speaking of a RC church and that church only.

wrong.

Jesus started ONE Church and one Church only… And Jesus made Peter the leader of His One and only Church on earth. The Catholic Church worldwide. And because that Church will last till the end of time, one who doesn’t believe in what Jesus established for our salvation, and be “in” it, doesn’t have the faith nor love in Jesus they think they have nor profess.

And it doesn’t matter what one says that’s important, it’s what they can show as evidence #34

You should know better that what you wrote shows my statement was right and not wrong.
there is No such item.
You must be a Jesuit. You know what I meant.

Make no mistake many here will read James wrong. He (James) is telling us how we justify or prove ourselves to men. For as any true Christian should agree on is that without good works one is not justifeied.

How you answer this maybe should show where you attend church. 🙂
The issue is that no Protestant is saying they should stop works. In fact James 2 is in our Bible’s too!

It’s a language thing imo. For both of us we believe that we are saved by grace through faith, and works follow. So where’s the argument? We’re all in favour of works.

You said

"And I will say when the pope speaks of a church he is speaking of a RC church and that church only".

The pope speaks for the Catholic Church. The only Church Our Lord established and gave all His promises to.

I’ve heard that argument from protestants before. I’m curious, who told you THAT about justification?

James wrote for context,

Jas 2: 21
"Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works, 23 and the scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”; and he was called the friend of God. "

Abraham didn’t do this to look good to men. Where do protestants get that? It was Abraham and God in that action. Abraham did what he was told to do by God, because he loved God above even his own son. And he proved it to God, not by saying I love you Lord without action, but actually putting that love to the test and literally have his hand with a knife in it ready to strike, and be stopped by an angel or Abraham would have surely sacrificed his son.

. . . . Ephesians is dead wrong.
As Catholics, we believe that Sacred Scripture is inspired by God.
We believe that no part of Sacred Scripture that is erroneous, much less “dead wrong”.
