Well, thank you. I am extremely proud of my Pope for doing this. For the record there were at least two Popes now in less than a hundred years who have apologized publicly for what the Church had done. No leaders of any other churches have done so or have done publicly so or as categorically so. The Pope is doing what the Bible says that we should strive to compete in doing good. Not so sure where that verse is but this Pope is not far from doing exactly just that. A true Christian, a true disciple of Christ Jesus indeed is he, someone that we can look on as an example.
What are you, Catholic or something?Well, thank you. I am extremely proud of my Pope for doing this.
What are you, Catholic or something?
(Well, people liked my previous joke, so maybe I’m on roll.)
Timing is everything. What are you, Catholic or something?

Not sure I see what your point is. Are you saying the Pope was wrong to request forgiveness?Didn’t I say the quote was about forgiving? I tried to make that my point. Is offering and asking for forgiveness the same thing? Should the priest and I swap sides in the confessional?
My thoughts exactly.Tired of it. How many times do we have to grovel and apologize?
No, I wasn’t saying that. I believe that asking for forgiveness is a sign of a humble heart and we certainly see that with our Holy Father in many and varied ways. I was saying that the scripture quoted, Matt 18:22, while referring to forgiveness, did not refer to asking forgiveness but giving it and these are not interchangeable. I would probably have quoted Matt 6:23-24: “If you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.”Not sure I see what your point is.
