Dear Catholic brothers and sisters,

I will go ahead say that I love your new pope! I myself am an anglican and keep a close watch on what the Catholic Church is doing and also read many of its saints writings. I will go ahead and predict that y’all have a saint in the office of Peter right now. I have been blown away by this man’s humility and love for others since he showed up on that balcony. Just wanted to pass that along and I look foward to watching him for hopefully a long time.

How nice of you to say so, and Peace be with you too.🙂
I think I really say all this b/c with all my heart i want a church that is one again. The priest at my parish thinks one day in my lifetime I will see the Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox churches come together again. For something like that to happen humility and love is going to have to be at the center of dialouge for those at the top (Pope, Patriarch, and Archbishop of Cantebury). I sincerely pray and hope my priest is right.

That is very kind of you. This is going to be very exciting to watch. I look forward to the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit renewing the Church both from within and without.

God bless.

What beautiful Christlike hearts you and your priest have.
Remembering Jesus’ prayer:
“That they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be one in us, . . . so that the world may know that you have sent me.” (John 17:21

I love Pope Francis! Just seeing him puts a smile on my face and brings more peace into my heart.

I love Pope Francis, too. But don’t forget the major role Pope Benedict XVI had in helping clear the way for Anglicans to be reconciled back to Rome. Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation out of concern for the good of the Church was a major act of humility. Those who think in terms of political power grabbing can’t even begin to understand this. And the fact that he never had an ambition to be Pope or even a bishop was another sign of his humility. Pope John Paul II was humble, too. Pope John Paul II personally went to a prison cell to visit the man who tried to kill him and offered him his forgiveness. How many of the ones who criticized his papacy would do that? The past three Popes show that there are many ways to be humble.

Thank you for your kind words. Has your parish/church looked into the Anglican Ordinariate that was established for Anglicans to come into communion with the Catholic Church? If so, what were your thoughts, the parish’s thoughts, and/or the pastor’s thoughts?

Keep praying my friend.

Your priest may be right! And I hope he is…

God bless 🙂

Aslan10: Thank you so much for the kind words for the Pope. I especially appreciate this because I long time Anglican friend sad terrible things about the Pope and Catholicism to me severing the friendship. So your kind words are much appreciated.

I really don’t know the answer to that because I have only been going there a year now and I am not really involved with all things that go on behind the scenes. But who knows, all things are possible with God.

I have no idea why people find the Ordinariate attractive. What ‘patrimony’ are Anglicans being allowed to keep exactly? A few ‘thees’ and ‘thous’? In exchange for a radically different ecclesiology and theology? What constitutes ‘patrimony’? It is a rather interesting scheme, which the last pope was very keen on, but which the present pope is said not to care for. If I didn’t think Anglicans were already a part of the Catholic Church, I would not be an Anglican. Simple as that.

Honestly don’t know the specifics of the Ordinariate, but it seems to have been received pretty well, as many have come back into communion with Rome through it.

In your understanding, how many theologies does the Catholic Church hold? And are they all radically different?

One last point, your ecclesiology and theology in the Anglican community IS changing, and will continue to change. Maybe the best part of the Ordinariate would be to transition to a theology that won’t change?

Couldn’t hurt to at least ask his opinion on it.

With Gods help and our prayers Pope Francis and the new Arch Bishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby shall do great things together.

Episcopalian here. 👋

It’s very early in his reign of course, but so far my impressions of Pope Francis are very positive. 👍

I am a dedicated observer of the Papacy. I was very excited when Pope Francis I was introduced. I look forward to his leadership.
