I suppose you find absolutely nothing wrong about Pachamama.
I find that whole debacle quite terrifying personally, but that is a different topic.

As far as Father Z criticizing Pope Francis on weather or not it is appropriate to have a bowl depicting a pagan deity (demon) in a place of honor on the altar at St Peters, I think it’s a fair point.
He (Father Z) is looking at something that is objectively wrong and criticizing it, he isn’t screaming from the rooftops the pope is a heretic.

Let’s say a pope one day up and declares (not ex cathedra), you know what, I’ve decided that Mormonism is actually the true faith. And then he continues being pope and even when questioned, makes no other comments on the subject.
Would it be “Pope bashing” if Catholics (priests included) criticized that one comment?

I mean isn’t it objectively wrong to give a pagan goddess a place of honor on an altar?

Because I honestly see absolutely no difference between giving a pagan deity a place of honor in St Peters and my make believe tale of a pope proclaiming Mormonism as the true faith.

I do not, actually.

What I see is a very small but incredibly vocal group of people who constantly attack the Pope in the most vile ways, distorting his words and actions for reasons of their own.

Ok, I think I see your perspective.
I am not distorting anyone’s words or actions, I honestly want to present my perspective and what I see objectively wrong about Pachamama being placed on a Catholic altar (not what anyone in particular has had to say about Pachamama), and ask why you do not see anything wrong with Pachamama being placed on a Catholic altar?

If we look at what the altar is used for in the RCC, it is essentially used for the worship of God and there is a reason for every item placed on the altar, take a look:

If we look at the objective evidence:

1. Pachamama a pagan god,.
2. Pachamama has a place on the altar at St Peters Basilica.
3. Catholic teaching holds that the altar is reserved for the worship of God and that there is a specific meaning behind everything that is placed on the altar.
4. It is the commandment of our lord not to worship any other god.

Hence it is my opinion that it is objectively wrong to have any depiction of Pachamama on any Catholic altar. The thought that this is actually happening terrifies me.
I do not think that I am attacking the pope or anyone else by not agreeing with something that is objectively wrong.

I completely agree, and I honestly meant for this *thread to be about the dropping of the title Vicar Of Christ and would like for it to stay on topic, where I get my news from (unfortunately) also spoke about Pachamama and inevitably has led off topic.
