Apart from the rhetoric, has any Bishop actually denied a politician communion during a Church service because of his or her pro-choice position? Just wondering. 🤷
Lots of times. I believe one of the Kennedy’s was denied. Patrick maybe?

Here is more.

I also recall the Catholic owner of a gay strip club in San Diego who was denied a Catholic funeral mass because he died unrepentant a few years back, much to the chagrin of his family. And the someaht in your face lesbian who was denied in VA last uear by a Priest.

Canon law is law, not just suggestions, but it is obviously up to clergy when it applies, since we cannot always say from a key board. Prominent public figures who make no bones about their stances though prior to communion seem tobe a more cut and dry situation.

I am a 66 YO fallen away Catholic who has been seriously looking into returning to the church. I left when I was 17 years old, became agnostic, and within the past five years overcame my agnosticism and my antipathy toward the Roman Catholic Church.

Just this morning I was going to make an appointment with a local priest to express my wish to return to the fold and to find out what I needed to do. I was baptized as an infant, received my first communion at age seven or eight, and was confirmed at age 13. I was very upbeat and looking forward to coming back. However, I was stopped in my tracks upon reading the news about Pelosi and Biden receiving communion at the Vatican. I could not believe that these two corrupt US politicians were not denied communion based on their support for abortion.

Consequently I did not make the call. I am not sure now if I ever will. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement.
Blue Goose - How sorry I am to hear this. Put the blame where it belongs on Pilosi and Biden!! They know they are not supposed to recieve the Eucharist. We can not expect the priests or Eucharistic ministers to know who they are. You let Satan win by not making that call. Please come home. I will pray for you to change your mind.

That person made the account to make that post. I think it’s a troll; not person in their right mind would reject all the teachings of a Church which they agree with just because a politician was permitted to receive communion.

I also think it is very wrong that they are not stopped from receiving, but that doesn’t have any effect on my faith.

I think it is wrong for mere lay people to pass judgment on the judgment of bishops and the pope. And so, I will NOT do that.

But I can report to you all a dream I had last night while I slept, can’t I?

In my dream, an angel opened up a golden book to me, and in the chapter dated 2013 and I read that the pope and the bishops had a meeting in Rome and issued a joint statement signed by them all in which the following was announced:

Henceforth any Catholic who publicly endorses the systemic slaughter of innocent persons, whether by abortion, genocide, or war crimes, will be immediately barred from receiving Holy Communion from any Catholic priest, and will be given 30 days to contact the Vatican to repent and be reconciled, after which time they will be excommunicated. The Vatican hereby establishes an office to track and monitor notorious persons who endorse the systemic slaughter of innocent persons.

Then, in my dream, I turned to the chapter dated 2014, and saw this headline from the New York Times:

U.S. Congress Passes Constitutional Amendment to Ban All Abortions

I believe in Jesus Christ and all his teachings, but there will always be Judases in our Church,
But you will never receive Jesus and the fullness of the Catholic faith anywhere else.
Put your trust in the Lord, I was disappointed as well and a revert 5 years ago, but nothing will every make me leave my church. You have to stick by her and not the people in the church.

So what? The Popes have met with lots of bad people. Did he offer Hitler communion?
I don’t blame the papal nuncio for meeting with Hitler in 1935. I probably would have done the same in 1935. No one could see what Hitler was planning in 1935. In 1935 he hadn’t killed a single Jewish person yet. My point is that we need to revise the way we perceive pro-abortion leaders. We tend to see them as the world saw Hitler in 1935, as leaders who aren’t all that bad. Rather, we need to start looking at pro-abortion leaders as the moral equivalent of Hitler in 1945. We generally don’t want to be so hard on people. But during the March for Life that was broadcast on EWTN in January of 2013, the priests kept saying that 50 million innocent unborn children have been killed in the USA since 1973. That’s my point.

We need to stop meeting with pro-abortion leaders. We need to treat them like persona non grata. We need to treat them like moral monsters.

Yes, I am new to this site but I am not new to the Church. I have been gone for a very long time and trying to find my way back. I am looking for answers you provided none.

You are right. The only way to turn the tide is to turn our backs on them and shun them. However, that is easier said than done and how many people have the moral courage to do that in today’s environment? Not many, especially in the political world.

I think many Catholics today think it is best to keep lines of communication open with pro-abortion leaders, so that we can influence them.

But that is exactly what many people thought about HITLER, until it was too late.

Regarding the 50 million innocent babies aborted in the USA, it is ALREADY TOO LATE.
