Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Pope Francis has a statuette of St. Joseph near his room in St. Martha’s House, where he leaves prayer requests: “He’s a carpenter and he gets the job done, even though he sometimes makes you wait”.

For the pope:

Remember, O most chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any who implored your help and sought your intercession were left unassisted. Full of confidence in your power, I fly unto you, and beg your protection. despise not, O foster-father of the Redeemer, my humble supplication but in your bounty hear and answer me. Amen.
