I particularly liked this line: “He (Jesus) himself is the model of the Good Samaritan; by imitating his love and compassion, we show ourselves truly to be his followers.”
I love Pope Francis’ angle on Catholicism.
He emphasizes personhood and relationship. Our awareness of other’s problems and gifts, and our response to them.
If we are going to evangelize non-Catholics and tell them about the authority given to the Church as a body of believers, the kind of behavior the Pope calls for demonstrates that.
Christianity is more than the book and the religious practice. It’s about people and community.
