A less Euro-centric Church? 🤷

Catholicism is growing at a very fast in places other than Europe & North America, and the world is becoming a much smaller place. I think the new Cardinals are a reflection of this, and we will continue to see the Magisterium become more diversified.
I agree.

The church is less european…sounds like a wise decision.

It seems most of his choices also favor those that work front lines, as it were. Maybe they don’t ride the bus to work as he did, but they are men of the masses, not just the Masses.

Considering the statistics and such coming out of the European branches of the church, reducing their influence can only be a good thing.

Germany is a good example of out sized influence from a place where the faith is practically dead. Let people from countries where the priests actually go to confession themselves take over. Europe is basically mission territory.

There are still too many Latin American cardinals. I would love to see them significantly outnumbered by the Asians and Africans.

I’m hoping for more African Cardinals. I have been very impressed by the faith and zeal of the African priests I have met and from what I have read about current African bishops.

I totally agree. I had the pleasure to meet a Jesuit African Priest to film him for my work, and have him talk about the faith over there. The passion and love they show, without ingesting personal opinions on things but only a true love for the Church, those in it, and those around it too. I say it is a wonderful thing to have more from there involved.
