Then why didn’t he choose 3 Christians as Jesus did? Why would he choose a Muslim and a Hindu? I thought Christ washed the feet of His disciples not those of other Faiths.

Because Christ died for all. He did this before giving his life for the life of the World. Even if the world cannot see It. This is also called evangelizing. Christ was equal to God but humble.

Gods ways are not mans ways. This kind of charity can only come from God and Jesus shows us the way to Eternal Life. Pope Francis himself says to focus on Christ as he clearly shows how God so loved the World that he sent his Only Son

Don’t forget this example not the Eucharistic feast where Catholics partake in receiving the Body and Blood of Christ but about serving one another. Jesus came to serve not to be served. This humility is astounding and is humbling.

Well said. I for one stand by those who help the poor, and those who stand up to bigotry. If one supports only building walls and not bridges…then this goes against Christianity.

I will work against the people who want to make Mexican American and Muslim lives more difficult because God commands that us Christians are to be nice to our neighbors.

You know whats interesting is that I posted this story on a Muslim forum and some of the Muslims said really negative things(some did praise the Pope though) about the Catholic Church. What I have found is that some of my own fellow Catholics are saying the same sorts of insults that some Muslims use against our Church.

It is unfortunate that some Catholics have openly questioned and even insulted our Pope…how does such an ugly thing happen. The other day I was watching Fox News and Sean Hannity(who claims to be Catholic) was saying all these negative things about the Church and had on a guest named Robert Jeffress…Jeffress is a non Catholic Christian who has on a # of occasions insulted our Church and yet it seems Mr Hannity and sadly other Catholics supports folks like Jeffress because Jeffress has negative views of Islam.
 
Boy I suppose I should lighten up. How can I as a Catholic react in as positive a way as possible to a fellow Catholic who disagrees or worse, insults the Pope. Tips would be appreciated.

Hmmmm I suppose I could remind of tales like Robin Hood, the Knight of the Swan…of Christian Chivalry of the middle ages<-----That is why I stand up for Muslims, Jews, Buddhists…because of Robin Hood, Richard the Lionheart and other chivalrous Christians of the middle ages.
 
I would suggest it was the walls built between finding God that were being refereed to. 😉

I would offer the walls of Fundamentalism as the walls to remove as well 👍

Jesus may or may not; regardless He is the Son of Man and Perfect.

Catholics, however, are not ordinarily obligated to be hurt by someone else or to become martyrs.

The Church has crystal clear teaching on self-defense.

What really is the significance of the Foot Washing ritual in its meaning? I thought this was once restricted to clergy as a symbol of the Twelve Apostles? Did Pope Francis revised this ritual every Maundy Thursday to extend a gesture of humility to them?
 
Probably a passive aggressive swipe at the Pope. An overt swipe would get him banned.
